Stingray results for Ohio Teams.

would the results thus far be considered a disappointment for Ohio ? 1 team each in the Final 4 at the older 3 age groups (didnt look at 10-12u) I guess if Ohio should pull a overall win it would look better but 1 team only in the semi's at 14,16 and 18u ? Maybe I'm assigning too much weight to one set of results . Personally I take alot of pride in stating Ohio is the best overall softball state in the midwest , but Indiana is really showing strong at the rays this weekend. IMO we lose so much talent out of state (all the bandit girls and several others also) it's just hard for ohio teams to win these big events missing lots of top shelf talent . Maybe there isnt much to discuss . Opinions ? MD

Hey - If all the talent in Ohio is playing in other states I would love to know why none are coming MY WAY!!!!!!?????? I am a nice guy, now I am getting invited to pretty nice events, and we have cool uniforms -- and its Orlando for goodness sakes.

ManitouDan - can you start recruiting for me?

MD - I don't know. I can tell you that the talent at the 14U Stingrays tourney was pretty good this year, especially the top 10-12 teams, many of which were Ohio teams. We beat both teams in the final earlier this year. We beat Indiana Magic Gold 4-1 on Friday, and beat Michigan Bulldogs 3-2 a couple weeks ago in Michigan. The Classics beat Crowne Point 4-3, and Crowne Point looked unstoppable this weekend. Laser Gray beat Team PA in pool play, and alot of people on OFC seem to think Team PA shouldn't be playing 14U. There were also a couple very good teams not at Stingrays this year, and two of them were in the championship game in Orrville, Static 97 and Lasers Green. There might not be that dominant team, week in, week out, that we have seen in the last few years. I think there are a large number of highly competitive teams out there, at least at 14U. If we got the top 10 together for five weekends straight, I don't think there would be a repeat winner. We shall see in Sioux Falls this year for 14U, as there are at least 6 teams heading there, possibly more.

The scarlet at 18u and Ice Blue at 16u made the finals . great job by both. would love to see that Ice Blue team play. They had a great group of scappy players at 14u two years ago. many of the same bunch still play with them ?

Congrats to Ohio Ice Blue, they win the 16U championship over Team Indiana Benefiel 5-4.
We lost a Heart Breaker to them 3-1 in the final 8.
Big win for Ohio with 3 of final 4 being from Indy.

MD,

Those out-of-state teams with the talent is also drawing more and more out-of-state college coaches to the Stingray's Tournament. But I can speak for the 18U bracket, it was pretty tough. To me, it seemed that each team had its own style of play. No team seemed to be a copy (style-wise) of any other team.

Actually both teams in the Championship game in 18u was Ohio teams. Roadrunners Elite and Lasers Scarlet. Both teams has an outstanding weekend. This was probably the best field of 16u and 18u that has ever been at the Stingrays.

MD..IMHO, I still think Ohio has tons of talent still playing in-state. I just think tho the talent is being spread throughout several teams.
