Good luck to all the players and teams participating in the Sun Classic Fall Showcase (D9) in Orlando, FL this weekend. The Outlaws sent a team in 16U and were lucky enough to get all their games at the main complex (ESPN Wide Worlds of Sports Complex in Disney) and drew some tough teams like OC Batbusters, CA Firecrackers, etc. Should be a great challenge and great opportunity at the same time.

I know the Ohio Hawks sent a few teams in the different age groups and looking just at the 16U schedule they also drew some tough teams like OC Batbusters, LTG, Next Level, etc. Good luck to them as well and anyone else from Ohio and PA that is heading down!

I've been following this for a bit and either I'm confused, y'all are too competitive OR there's something lost in the translation. It's called a showcase so that coaches can/should be working to get all the girls "see" not show their coaching abilities!

All coaches he's should have a list of each girls strengths and if/when a situation presents itself take the opportunity to get your girls in the game to show off to the best of their ability!

In short, it's not about winning or losing its about openly applying your trade in a situation that suits YOU!!

Sorry, I don't see the facination with winning and losing here? Wish the girls luck in showing their abilities but who cares if they win or lose?? But let the game outcome go!

It WOULD be nice to see stats though!!!!

The Outlaws team is the 14u Premier playing up at 16u I believe.

Incredible field of teams this past weekend. Got home late last night but it was worth it. We stayed primarily @ ESPN and saw just about every major college coach available. It was a "Who's Who" of college softball.

I got to catch Lasers Orange a couple of games and they were playing very well against some of the top teams in the country. Look out when the Ohio girls roll up to this team @ 16U. They'll be a tough out for sure.

Just a couple of pointers for teams planning on going:
1. Try to play the 7 games versus the 5. It gives you more opportunity to play more at the main complex versus National Training. (yes, it does cost more).
2. This tournament is not cheap. From the entry fee to the parent cost to get thru the gates. PRICEY!
3. Stay in Kissimmee. Plenty of housing available and it's cheaper than Disney
4. If possible, fly. I know people that drove and they has Sunday games. That would have been tough.

Just curious -- with top flight national talent at every age group why would a team attempt to play up ?

I believe the Outlaws team was a mix of mostly 16's s few 18's and 2 14's from my conversation with them.

Lasers Orange enjoyed their time in Orlando with great weather great exposure and we played very well.
Gave up 3ER on the weekend and threw 4 shutouts out of 7 games against awesome competition in front of some top programs. Ohio softball represented well in Florida!!

To prepare for PGF Nationals in 2016. Last season the 14u Bandits Demarini team only played 3 out of 13 events in fall/summer at 14u. All other were at 16u or 18u to prepare our team for 14u PGF Nationals.

Good deal, didn't the Ohio Hawks and Static also have teams there?

Oiler -- was this your standard 14u team or a mixed age group team that someone thought they might have ?

I believe the majority would agree. This fall, there have been a few comments about posting scores at showcases for some reason??? I fear coaches will eventually get caught up in scores and "ruin" the purpose of showcases.

Way to represent Ohio!

The 2014/15 Bandit Demarini 14u team was a true 2nd year 14u team. Dont know if that makes us a standard team, but we were made up of all '00 birth yr kids except 1 '01 kid.

Scores are not a fascination -- just gives everyone a GENERAL IDEA of how competitive a team is . Playing a tough schedule and competing in far away showcases are great . I highly recommend it ---- IF you have the players to win some games . If not , that schedule should backed off a bit . When those players take the field -- even at a showcase , they are playing to win and coaches are coaching to win. How many winnable games are being lost because State U ask Coach Bob to insert Suzie in LF or put Lisa in at Catcher ? To me, the W-L record even in a showcase gives a pretty good idea of just where a team stands . Just another opinion in an endless amount of them .

Thanks oiler -- someone mentioned one Outlaw team having several different age groups on 1 team this past weekend.

Also I made the assumption you were reporting as an Outlaw parent -- are you with Bandits or Outlaws ?

Hawks Lenos was there in the 18U. All games at the WWOS as well. Awesome weekend in one of the best venues in the country. Doug ran a pre set rotation in the circle and batted the roster with the exception of coach requests. We played several games where other teams subbed liberally. One in particular batted the same 4 girls pretty much the entire game. All had subs running. Multiple girls took 2 at bats in a row. Yes everyone wants to win, but this is the way this tournament should run.
