I'm not complaining about the price, just the overall lack of consideration by the TD's that do this. I understand it makes it easier on them. I understand it limits excessive cash changing hands and personal contact in the age of the pandemic. But don't claim it will save families money and certainly don't spring it on a team after signing up. I would much prefer that it be included in the price. That way, you know....maybe we can budget better for it and include it in our team fees.

And yet another gimmick to draw more revenue out of their "Customers" they claim to serve. lol. I'm sorry but I have to laugh. Wait till they start to defend themselves for the reasons for the charge. I've already thought of a few. How about you? Got any ideas on reasons for the fee? Share and maybe we can all have a smile.

What fees make you upset the most?

$5 per person per day to watch your kids playing a tourney that team fees are $800 or more? $5 per person per day is obsurd!!!!!
Stay to play events?
Team fees to play 1 event over $1000?
How about all the crap coaches have to fill out to show your roster insurance background concussion ACE certifications? Used to be able to send a pic of this stuff.... now you gotta be a damn secretary and a head coach for a lot of these events.
The money grab is real. And as long as you parents keep buying it, it ain't gonna go away. Lol

Stay to play has always been the one that gets me. You don't stay at the hotel they pick for you so you have to pay hundreds of dollars to stay where you want. If that doesn't scream money grab IDK what does...
In my opinion, PGF are the biggest crooks out there.
Tennessee this past weekend was $25 for a weekend pass with no guarantees your team will be there Sunday. The scheduling was an absolute joke! I'm curious at what point when you have 80 minute FTI games and schedule 5 minutes between games it's gonna run smoothly? Umpires taking 15 minute breaks between games which I have no problem with since they did every game each day. The TD only cares about $! get as many teams in as possible and we will put a schedule out that looks good until your 5:55pm game goes off at 7:45pm with the winner of that game playing at 7:20pm..Oh yeah, there was another round after that to be played but they moved it to the morning only to start a full game behind and Sunday hasn't even started yet. The competition was without question top notch but for how the tournament was ran and fields completely turning to shit by Saturday, I would avoid Ridley Complex at all costs especially if PGF has their wallets open for your money.

Its getting bad in all activities.

OHSAA the past few years has been raising school member fees and requiring additional training for coaches and umpires. I think OHSAA member schools are up to $50 a sport with the forecast to go to $100 per sanctioned sport excluding middle school. I bet its only a matter of time before they start having hotel requirements or additional fees for championships to pay for awards etc.

Skills USA Ohio moved from the state fairgrounds to the convention center.. BIG $$$$...
To do this they raised student chapter fees, put in place a heads in beds program for all schools to follow during state championships, reduced contestant meal choices including no outside food or drink permitted and this year Ohio Skills USA required parents and spectators to pay $10 to get into the championships and for schools to pay for bus/van parking.
Skills USA Ohio even had a $12 online test all contestants had to take prior to the event.
Other CTSOs are doing the same in Ohio and other states with 4H, FFA, DECA, HOSA etc.

It is going to get to the point only well funded or well off families will be able to participate in co or extra curricular activities or select/travel sports.

While everything you said is correct, for that level of 1-60 competitive ball, I would do it every weekend.

I hear ya but I would rather play up in a "more local" tournament that provides better competition (due to age) instead of driving 8+ hours to sit around because all games are 2+ hours delayed due to piss poor scheduling.

The players on my team like to attend those events so they can see how they compare to the best in the country at their age level. The wait times were not enjoyable, but the atmosphere was amazing! We would attend again

I remember paying a $25.00 gate fees as a Coach back 23 years ago. I didn’t like it but I paid it only to find out later on Sunday, that only the Coaches that played on Friday had to pay the gate fees. I never said anything because it was only $50 bucks for both of us. I think that was the highest gate fees I ever paid as a coach.

the players? or is it the parents / coaches want to see how lil suzy compares to others across the country. most of the time the parents / coaches push this, not the players. 12u kids go where they are told to go play.

One way to solve the scheduling problem at tournaments or showcases is make them 80 minutes drop dead or finish the batter. And schedule the games 90 minutes apart.
But then people would complain about that, but the fields won’t be 2 hours behind by the end of the day either.

I agree, the competition was great. Never thought I would ever witness a 12/13yo throw 60+...

80 drop/revert isn't all that terrible in pool play. No one likes that format but if it has to be then the 80 minutes usually gives you close to if not a full game.

The real problem is that they pack it full of teams so you can actually see the money overflowing out of their pockets. I'm sure there are others but PGF seems to be the absolute worst.

I agree with almost all you said. I don’t charge entry fees or parking and I don’t add anything in. However, it is required by the State of Ohio for coaches to show ACE or any other concussion certificate along with insurance because so many of the few sued a tournament director for being hit by a ball because the TD didn’t have a sign up warning people. And coaches need to know how to deal with concussions. Umpires are also required. I run tournaments myself and have never really had an issue…until I caught a coach, just last week, using a copy of insurance from a previous year, and changing the date to 2022. It’s the few that ruin it for the most.
