Team hoppers that dodge fees and play for free!

Any coach out there experience this situation this season? Prob an age old problem but with tryouts coming up, organizations should know who these cast of characters are so they aren't digging into their own wallets and finding pick up players to finish tournaments. Blame the parents more than the player but unfortunately both are part of the package.

There are many out there. Hopefully coaches are smart enough to call other coaches to ask questions and check their past teams websites to see if that player has played for them. If so they should call that coach to ask lots of questions. Just an idea.

I get the team hopping… but how are fees not paid? Shouldn't there be a payment schedule so that everything is paid before the season is underway?

Kids don't start out the season with the team they come in a tournament or two into the season or even after all the funds have been paid and the spring schedule has started and they jump on teams I have seen this as well.

When you took a spot on the team they told you how much it cost, you either paid it or walked. It's the same for everyone else on the team, they either paid it or walked. I'm not sure why anyone cares what anyone else paid, or didn't.

Agree..everyone knows how small the fastpitch community is...It pays to do some homework... it will save you (and your committed players who pay) a lot of trouble in the end. They are out there...Pretty crappy to stick a coach and the players with this.. coaches dedicate a lot of time during the year to travel ball...not fair that they have to (as BBsoftball put it) dig into their wallets as well.
