I just joined this forum and everyone is scaring me because we are in the process of starting a new team. We are not going to be in business until season after next because I think there is a need to plan, setup your structure, advertise and drum up support.
We considered throwing it together for next season but if we did we would have to be just a for fun team so unless we get a ton of interest and we tell the parents that and they still want to play we wont be out there until we have everything solid.
We have looked at the area we are in and there isnt alot of travel presense so the talented ladies seem to be turning to the option they hear about which is the local community program. The local program is almost invisible as well so we should be in good shape. It is like anything else if you put the effort in and do things right you will be successful. There are many teams that are poorly planned and what is described above does happen. This is our game and a team should be about delivering a quality experience and opportunity to the ladies not an agenda. Hopefully we will be successful and see some of you out there.

People need to remember that sometimes the grass is greener on the other side of the the fence, because they use more fertilizer!!!!!

That's true. The grass can be greener on the other side. I wonder what they use for fertilizer. Does it come from a cow? lol

I agree with crazy, always look at the coaches daughter. The coach has had years to train and develop their own kid and if they still stink after all this time, do you really think they will be able to teach your kid? That is why I always look at them, it shows you how much the coach knows.

Not alway's true have seen many good coaches who's dd's are not the best player on team. Sometimes they just clash and that's the way it is. Dosn't mean there not a good coach.

The DD doesn't have to be the best but if they have stinky fundamentals and no skills, than that should be your first indication that the coach is not going to help your DD improve. I clash with my kids alot too and they are always thinking I am picking on just them, but they have sound fundamentals and their skill levels are where they should be.

I agree that there are too many teams out there, however this happens in all sports, just look at the NFL where they have teams like the Browns and Bengals.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Just my Opinion, But maybe ASA, NSA, Pony, ect…. Need to step up and follow there own rules and quit giving free births to their National Tournaments. Start enforcing their own rules. How many times you see a team finish last and know one in front of them wants it so it gets handed down 5,6,7 places. I know when my dd played your team had to win or come in 2nd to qualify for a major National tournament. Point is as long as someone out there wants to pay they’ll play, and your Sanctioning bodies WON”T do a thing as long as $ is being made. They need to enforce A teams and B teams. It’s all about the $BUCK$. Just my Opinion.

They do!!

Lets face it all the good or bad originations start the basic same way and that's from rec ball and daddy takes the team or daughter and starts a select team. If team does well then dad with younger DD wants to come and coach and a origination is born.

Um, somewhere JoeA is laughing while he prepares his college team for fall ball.
