Mathews HS is right up the road from my office. I might have to check out a game!!!! I love to hear all the buzz about up and coming young players in Ohio softball.

Yes check her out. As good of a pitcher she is she is just as good of a kid.

Girl from OSU camp is Outlaw player and is a 14u freshman at Mathews a small school in Trumbull county in N East Ohio. She actually hit 66mph according to OSU coach.

Warren, It was nice to meet you this weekend. You ran a fantastic tourney in a nice little facility. We had never been there. I'm trying to figure out if this pitcher and my DD went head to head this weekend or did outlaws throw anyother pitcher in the pool play game?

She wasnt at the G-plex tournament this past weekend. She played at the Spano Dome Tournament.

Last year, LaGrange beat Lima Shawnee 1 0 in the regional semi finals. LaGrange scored on a mental error in the 7th. LaGrange had a very good pitcher, but thier hitters all tried to kill the ball. They hit 3 balls hard. Sadly, their pitcher (Bullock) had tj surgery and is out for the year. Very disappointed for her. Shawnee is a nice team, but it is tough when you lose your only pitcher. It will be tough for Shawnee to get out of their tough sectional.

That is sad to hear about Lima Shawnee. That was a great game last year at Bucyrus. I had the task of scouting it, and it was a pitching battle, like our game turned out to be.

Sami plans to attend Saginaw Valley State. Doesn't look like she will be ready by fall so she will probably red shirt.

How is the pitching at Lima and Lakewood this season?

Lakewood will be without a proven dominating pitcher this season for the first time in about 7 years! They do not have another Berkheimer or Patznick in their stables. That being said they still have a full team of talented players that know how to win, and an experienced coaching staff. They are just going to have to find another way to top teams from outside of the circle.

Watch out for these teams: Granville, Licking Valley, Dresden Tri Valley, Philo, Maysville, and New Concord John Glenn. All good hitting squads with good pitching.

Licking Valley has beaten Granville, Philo and River View.

You are correct. Add River View to my list BTW. All are very good squads. Valley appears to be the cream of the crop around here with that loaded freshman class. I would say in a 1 and done tournament, any of these teams COULD beat any of these teams. Lakewood is going through some growing pains but they will be ready as always come tourny time.

River View just beat Tri Valley 1-0 in the first game of the Sectional Tournament.
