Tryout today?

So do most H.S teams tryout around the same time? My dd school has tryouts today to determine whos on varsity or jv (not a word from the peanut gallery, that old post of mine still haunts me). Just wanna wish all the girls around good luck, and I've learned no matter where she plays VY or JV, sit, watch, cheer, clap, and enjoy it. Above all else......keep your trap shut when she is playing, she'll appreciate it more than you know. Best of luck to all!

Your dd's school takes one day to determine who's on V or JV? Our school takes forever.....2 days. Yeah Larry, just about every high school with a softball team start tryouts today. It will be interesting to see how many kids try out for our school this year. I think 14 showed up for last year's tryout....from a school of about 1,400 students. But hey, as long as it's the right 14 kids I think we'll compete.

We have open gym this week and tryouts are next week. That may be a good thing hopefully more girls decide to try out than are planning on it now.

The difference between you and a few others is you have learned and for the most part are PC enough now not to do damage to your dd when it comes to school ball. Live and learn. That is all we can do.

We have tryouts this week too but only on Monday and Tuesday. Last year we had it Monday-Friday of the first week.

Good luck to all the girls!!! Remember....it doesn't matter which team you make, be proud to represent your school!!!

Good luck to all the parents!!! Remember, this is NOT travel ball so do not expect it to be!!!! Sit back, relax, cheer and be supportive.....it's only 4 months long. Most problems are caused by parents feeling the need to butt in and give their opinions on how they think things should go. Most high school coaches do not care what you think and do not want to hear your opinions on the team just because your daughter plays travel ball or you coach travel ball. Let your daughter handle things, encourage her to be a team player and do anything that is asked of her and just enjoy what will be for most, the last few years of her fastpitch career. The more you pick it apart behind the scenes, the more you will damage your daughters chance of having a great high school experience filled with incredible memories. If you can't be supportive, it's best you keep your opinions to yourself.....for your daughter's sake. Good luck and enjoy!!!!

My apologies Lenski.....they take this week not just today. Try outs "start" today. Sorry for the confusion.....

This week is more conditioning than anything else. Next week for four days is tryouts. I think they already have an idea who is playing where but the tryouts are more confirmation.

One piece of advice to pass on to your daughters who have been told this is a conditioning week ... they should consider it a tryout week ... coaches pick up a lot during conditioning as to attitude, effort, leadership, etc.

OK, so I have 2 more years before dd gets to experience this wonderful time of year. This is her first year of Jr High Ball. I think I remember the coaches saying he believes they will have upward of 80 girls trying out for 2 teams. Sometimes it is good to live in a softball town of Lebanon. Good luck to all of the girls going out for their school teams. We as a family are looking forward to getting back to the families that dd has not played with for about 4 years. Good kids and good families.

The way she hits she should already be playing high school ball.

Thanks Mike, but not in Lebanon. They are looking very good to make a run into the state tourney again this year. Of course they will have their work cut out for them as there are still many powerhouse teams in our area and up north. Her class of 2019 has a fair bit of talent. It will be fun to watch these young ladies if they keep progressing as they have the past few years.

For the DD, I just hope she gets the opportunity to play school ball as a freshman. She goes to see Dr. Kremcheck tomorrow to see about her shoulder. For now, she is the Varsity Team Manager until and if she can play. We only have a few TB girls in the school and I'm not even sure if they will have enough for a V & JV team. At least with school ball starting and if the weather would change, I could get my honey-to-do list done before the summer.
