Tryouts during the weekday, Please!!

Its that time of year when players tryout for teams they want to play for. Sitting there looking at all the try-outs they are all on the weekends and all around the same day and time. I wish more teams would have at least one tryout during the weekdays. I have only seen one on my DD's list that offer a tryout on the weekdays. Why dont more teams offer tryouts during the week?

I think having those tryouts during the weekdays help out. You may get that player that would have not made it to your tryout during the weekend and be the player you want. Or vise versa have the player want to be on your team that would have never tried out. Its win win for both.

Oh I understand that. But I was on 2nd shift hours working weekends for some time so weekdays work for some too.

I would guess that any org/team would do a personal tryout if you contacted them. If they won't, then they probably aren't really looking too hard for players anyway.

This thread has come up in the past. Thought I remember something that tryouts are normally weekends and can set up a private tryout during the week. Never been to a weekday tryout but some of my buddies took their DD's there were additional girls there. basically sounded like a scaled-down weekend tryout with less girls. These organizations state they will accommodate weekday tryouts if you call in advance.

I'm quessin volleyball and spotted melon practices are the #1 reason.

I really cannot say one way or another as my daughter has never attended a private tryout....I only know that they are available because she has been offered a private tryout in the past. A friend of mines daughter just had a "private tryout" last week but there were 2 other girls also trying out with her (this was for nationals)...I imagine it would be easier on the younger ones if they were not the only one in the spotlight JMHO

Good idea Klump- its always a plus to see the girls interact with one another

Klump I like that. having at least a few member of the team to be there is a very good thing. I think it would help on the try out.

I personally love private tryouts. The player trying-out gets an honest look compared to a cattle-call tryout where a player can get lost in the shuffle.

Also, tryouts should be a 2-way street where prospective players get to determine whether it is the right team for them.

We did maybe 15 private tryouts last year. Almost all of them made their teams.

We will give private tryouts to those who ask.

Don't want to see any more "MyTeam has weekday tryouts on" .... posts in this or any other thread not in the tryouts section. This is not a chance to advertise your tryouts in the General Softball area, anyone who thinks it is may find that they will not be able to post until November or December.

Pesonally, I like the private tryouts better because generally it means that they have an opening for my position. It's a real pain to be shuffled into a giant tryout that tires you out just to find that they have a returning girl who had the position locked up the whole time.
