Our team (U10) is trying to decide whether or not to go to USSSA Nat. tourney at Disney. Can anyone who has been there offer any insight, advice, etc.?

Thanks!

I coached a team last year at the 14u level that went to the USSSA Nationals at Disney. We had an awesome time as a team. The field are the best fields you will ever play on and the tournament was very, very well run. At one point during the tournament it looked like a monsoon had hit and within 2 hours we were playing again! There were plenty of things to do for the kids (within the Wide World of Sports complex and the surrounding areas) and we found a great hotel to stay in within 10 minutes of the park for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend going there. Competition level is not what you would see at ASA of course, but if you are looking for a great experience, beautiful fields and a classy nationals, then you should definitely go.

we went 2 years in a row at the 14u level and it was great. one thing that we did that saved a lot of money was stay at Windsor Palms resort. They have 3 - 7 bedroom houses with private pools and a community center with a pool, game room, movie theatre. (our girls never wanted to leave there) you can even find websites where the owners of the houses list the rentals theirselves and get a lower price. it is definately the way to go. the resort website is Allstarvacations.com. we had 3 -4 families per house and it was definately cheaper than a hotel.
The tournament itself was all that you could expect from Disney. USSSA & Disney treated the girls great and the fields were excellent. we were there at spring break last month & got the same treatment for the high school spring training ( the pitchers mounds had Minnie ?;Dears!!!!). wish we could go this year but 16u is in Overland KS (just not the same ?:(so I guess we'll go to Charlotte) it is a Nationals that your girls will remember for years to come

to echo both softballcat 12 and lightening coach - a GREAt experience- the girls are treated well - announcers at games, etc. As far as other family memebrs Orlando has somethign for everyone and accomodations, meals, etc for almost every budget. I still smile when I thiunk about the Mickey Mouse ears on the pitching circle

What they (above) said is so true.
You, the players and famliy members will have the games of your life.
You play 1 game per day, some times some teams play 2 game, then are off the next day.
You will play all week.
GO!

I agree with the posts above, well run tournament, great fields, lots to do in Orlando, lots of accomodations at good prices.
BUT.....the week we were there 3 years ago - it was 90-100 degrees everyday, with oppressive humidiity, it really was terribly hot and not very enjoyable. I don't know how the girls played in that heat. Fortunately, we never played more than 2 games in a day.
I've also been there 4 years in a row for High School Spring Break, and it's a great time and the weather in late March is excellent. In four years, we had one game rained out in the 5th or 6th inning. The competition isn't as good as I think it should be during the Spring Break tournament, but it is good to get in 6 games before your high school season starts.
