For those kids in SWCS that still want to play softball and are not leaving what are there options? Could they still play in the spring as a Team? Are there Travel Teams to play? What would be some options?

We are exploring that now and will try to organize a club team and approach the OHSSA and request they put us on the schedule for the HS. Hopefully, the area High Schools will assist us in trying to put this together by being willing to list us on their schedules. If needed or wanted, Central Crossing will join with some Grove City kids and establish one team. I know of at least 6 travel ball players from Central Crossing's Varsity team who for now, are not moving out of the district. Some others may leave, but some are choosing to stay. They are Lasers, Dragons, Crush, and Vipers players. We are just starting to look into this and a parent has been designated to check with OHSAA. If all 4 HS have enough players staying, and those kids are interested, then we may explore forming our own Spring League in addition to scrimmaging High Schools if we cannot get on their official schedule. We will also look at the Catholic HS and see if we can work with them at all. If we have enough kids (varsity and jv) then we may have more teams for a spring league. Anyone interested in working on this can email me at Sunsoarer@aol.com. If there is someone already working on this then please contact me so that we can combine our efforts.

If that doesn't work, then we will continue to look for ways to play. We are also looking at playing winter ball at Allstars. From what I understand, the new rules no longer affect us because we do not have athletics at our school.

If anyone has experience with this, please PM me so that I can share it with the group of parents that have started to work together on this.
Thanks! Rona Dorsey

In talking with some of the teams from states that play softball in the fall a couple of years back, I was told that they spend most of the late winter and early spring attending southern weekend tournaments. Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama... Might be an option.

Hi SunDragon, Just wanted to say good luck in your quest. We met at a we OSU game this spring and we were talking about our daughters. I know if my daughter was faced with no softball that she would be heartbroken and I would probably be doing the same as you. Just know that there are many of us out here who just don't understand why it had to happen and we're behind you and your efforts!

I am a SWCS mom and my heart breaks. I'm not getting into the political, gossipy part as to why or why not the levy failed or what my beliefs are as I like to keep quiet and observe to an extent, but wanted to extend my sympathies to all the players that put their heart, time, and dedication into their sports and grades. Hopefully there will be a solution or at least an alternative :) Good luck to all.
