After this weekend, it is the pitch 12 inches off the plate outside that the umpire keeps calling a strike. Wouldn't have been able to reach it with a 40" bat.

It this age group a good change up seems to fool many. As many pointed out it depends on the type of hitter. A good slapper, loves a change up and they see high and inside. College, per the best hitter to play the game, the rise ball. Watching college playoffs this weekend. The young lady that was throwing the drop curve, was nasty.

Change up if the pitcher can sell it and have command over placement. Pitchers that have high heat with a rise ball and can work the ladder can also keep batters in check.
