As an umpire I thought this might be humorous. I have been very fortunate in my umpiring career not to have had too many heated arguments so this non heated one stands out to me.
I was working the bases with a runner on first. The batter hammers a liner up the middle so second basemen has no chance to get to. She, of course, dove, did get it on a hop, and with 1 motion snapped to her knees and threw perfectly to the SS covering 2B. The runner, however, did beat the throw (close but everyone knew she did) and nobody says anything. Then here comes the coach out to talk to me. He points a finger at me like he is arguing, and something like..."Now listen. That was probably the best play I have seen (still wagging the finger) and I just wanted my 2B to hear me say it. Now I am going to turn around and go as soon as you say it was just that, then I will turn again and point.....uh... Is that OK?. I didn't smile at all, letting the fans whoop it up and pointed back and said. "Now that is a good idea...and yes...it was a great play."
And no. I have never been asked where we wanted to eat after the game.
