14U Results:

1st - Ohio Classics
2nd - Pittsburgh Power "Becker"
3rd - Thunder Elite
4th - Follansbee Lighting

Power played 5 games in a row out of the loser's bracket and beat the Classics 2-1 in 8 innings in the 1st Championship game to force the "if" game. ?Classics won 4-3 in 8 innings. ?2 great ballgames and the Classics are indeed a classy team!

Thunder Elite knocked the Power into the losers bracket late Saturday night in another extra inning game. ?The Thunder are another classy team who hit the crap out of the ball.

Was a well organized tournament where the fields where hosed down, raked and relined a few times a day. ?The umpires overall where solid with the exception of the last few games Sunday. ?Blown calls that were obvious to all players, coaches and spectators for and against both sides.

12U Results:

1st - Pittsburgh Power "Colton"
2nd - Pittsburgh Pride
3rd - Pittsburgh Power "Floreak"

10U Results:

1st - Pittsburgh Power
2nd Pittsburgh Lady Roadrunners

Don't know the results of the 16s and 18s.

I stayed and watch the 1st Championship game for the Classics 14U age group since my oldest is on that team. The umpiring for this game was not the best it could have been and the Pittsburg coach I'm sure can agree, Not saying it cost the game but, overall, I was not impressed with the umpiring from the 10U age group I coach all the way through the older age groups through out the entire weekend. There were a lot a very impressive teams at this tournament that I know will agree. Not sure how to correct this but we all travel a good distance to play very competitive ball and make sure the game is played as fairly as possible.

hats off to the Road Runners for pulling this tourney off with the delays and heat. Just could have been better umpires at these games.

It was a shame for great teams to have to deal with 70 year old umpires in 95 degree heat in the championshio games. These umpires were afraid of the inside pitch and could not or would not set up over the catcher. Numerous times the umpires bailed out on inside fastballs. Three times in one game a coach asked the home plate umpire for help on a checked swing but the ump replied "He can not see that far". It was not the bad calls that were irritaing, they happen in every game but when the Umpire did not attempt or were unable to get into postion to make the calls? This is a competitive sport, all of the young ladies sacrifice their personal time to get to the level they play at, I just think the tournament directors should schedule umpires of the same calliber and commitment at least for the championship rounds.
Watch out for the Pitt Power next year at 14U they are a solid young team. Great games everyone!

1stBase, Thanks for the kind words. ?A great group of young ladies who work very hard and continue to improve their game.

The 3 senior citizen umpires that worked the final 3 14U games were downright awful. ?We played 11 games over the weekend and the umpiring for the 1st 8 games was solid to excellent. ?How these 3 were chosen to work the finals is beyond me. ?Perhaps they were picked on "seniority"!

Agree very bad umpires in the 10U age umpires did not know rules were out of position blocked a crucial play at plate. Just a very bad job.

WWolf. I really enjoyed playing against your team. Very nice families and a great bunch of girls you have. Wow, we had an awesome game and I did think the umpiring was good (Not great during our game) I would replay that game a 100 times if we could get together again. Good luck for the rest of the season. If you need a tourney to come to the weekend after the 4th of July weekend, please consider ours. Here is our website and the info is on the Home Page. http://www.ohioclassics.com/classic.html

For those wishing to help improve the umpiring for next years tournament. Please contact the assigners and let them know which umpires specifically were a problem in which specific games. For the games in Moundsville contact Jim Burns at 330-532-1700. For the games in Wheeling and Elm Grove contact Dan Berry at 304-639-2619. Both men will want to make sure to have the best officials possible for next years tournament. You may also contact me, Rick Sherman (Tournament Director) at 740-819-1757. I can then give the information to them.
Thanks for your interest in and concern about the tournament. We are constantly trying to make things better for the teams and their families.

Coach Rick Sherman
