When is a player released from H.S. Ball

I know this question has been asked a million times, so I'm sorry in advance. When can a high school player start playing with her travel team? If the Varsity team is still in tournament play, and she played J.V. can she play on her summer team. Thanks for your help.

Is she playing with the Varsity for States?

No not dressing Varsity. finished her JV season.

Generally when JV players are released they are free to go with their summer team, however, if your Varsity team is still playing the better safe than sorry bet would be to clear it with the Varsity coach....if an injury occurs and they need your player might be wise to be ready to play.

I was told that the HS girls could not play travel or rec until the Varsity team was eliminated from the tournament. The reason given was that if a Varsity player is injured during the tourney and it becomes necessary to bring a JV player up to fill her spot (or fill a bench spot), technically she becomes a Varsity player and the no travel/rec ball until season's end rule is in play.
