When organizations disband a team

When one door closes, another opens!! Take it for what it is... an opportunity to research and try out for a team that can get your dd ready to play college ball!! Our team went through a very rough year this year and they will not be back next year. My dd is ready to go out and find the team that will make her work hard and get her to the level she needs to play college ball! She and I are looking forward to the challenge!! lmbecb, look ahead and not behind!! I know your dd, and she has the talent and ability to be a great player on a more competitive team!! :yahoo:

My dd was devastated when her original travel team broke up very unexpectedly in January one year. Once she picked herself up and was ready to play again, she found a new team fairly quickly. It's been a very positive experience in the end, but initially it was very traumatizing for her and all the girls. Change is hard, but how they manage the change is what counts. Having been in a similar situation, I can pretty much guarantee the end result will be rewarding.

I have read the posts and while it is clear the individual starting the thread must have thought it would be a sign of endearment to the person stepping down, the rest of us didn't take the comments that way. It is the very same attitude that helps people like myself decide to not continue as unpaid volunteers regardless of the common good we believe we are doing.

Arrogant expecting parents with no concept of the many hours it takes per week, normally on a yearly basis, so they can have what "they" want. If you believe coaching is difficult, try running an organization and most also coach a team as well. There is always a constant flow of interaction between them and some family as they are always brought into the loop to settle disputes while trying to maintain their own household and keep a job/business. This stuff doesn't come out of Cracker Jack boxes and those rare individuals that commit so much of their lives to this sport so others can benefit should be revered and not ostracized in public forums.

If your level of dedication is to deliver your child to practices and games on time, pat yourself on your own back for your effort and remember the coaching staff is handling a burden many times more and the Organization Director has to deal with it many more times over while living with the drama 24/7.

Find a solution---become involved. Quit whining about how another person sacrificed their time for your family to even have an opportunity. Thank these volunteers for their efforts and show your appreciation for the many years of service to your daughter and the good they have accomplished in society in general. They deserve a chance to pass the torch and have some normal "me" time after all they have been thru.

geez i seemed to have offended some people, first off yes it is a new screen name, i simply forgot my password for the old one, and this is in no way directed at the hammers i actually have never heard of that organization, and let me clear somethings up, it was the head of the organization who decided to disband one team, not them all just one...and yes it upset us, as well it would if your daughters were affected, i was just venting which is why i didnt name any names and left it at just that a vent.... as far as the suggestion that i dont come out from behind my screen name because them my dd will never get picked up... i have a suggestsion for you ... grow up... and i actually am sad to be leaving the organization.... this post was only a vent...

Daboss, although I agree with everything you said....you have missed the fact that the head of this organization is going to continue to have teams, they just told ONE team that they were not going to be part of the organization next year. The rest of the teams will continue to be a part of this org. This team has been wearing their orgs name for 5 years. That is what is upsetting lmbecb. He will still be the head of the organization.

That said, I still think this is a PERFECT opportunity for her dd to broaden her horizons and play for another organization that can give her what she really needs to compete at a college level! IMHO she will be happier when she does!!
