In light of our own Brittany Duncan being selected for the Women's National Baseball Team Trials roster, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at how selections were made.

The USA Women's National Baseball Team held the Women's Open June 10-12, 2016 in Cary, NC. 36 of the 40 Trials roster was selected from the open. Of those 36, 15 players from last year's gold medal team, were named to the roster. 4 of the players were chosen by identification series and discretionary selections. What that means, exactly, I do not know. I would assume by recommendation of someone on the committee or close to it.

The roster has players from ages 16-42 and from 13 different states.

The Trials themselves will be held August 22-25, 2016 at Cal State Fullerton, to determine the final 20 player roster. The selected team will then travel to Gijang City, South Korea to participate in the Women's Baseball World Cup held September 3-11, 2016.

Continued luck to Brittany on this journey! Go Boulder!
