DD has some offers for college ball. One is with a great program but little $ and aways from home. Another is with a good program, more $ and is closer to home. Still another with an offer close to home, but no real $, just housing. She is leaning to the school her boyfriend plays BB for. Problem is , she is undecided on a major and I am afraid she might commit for the wrong reasons. Any suggestions?

Seriously though, pick the school with softball out of the picture. If she dropped softball, would she still like the school?

Ditto That! Have heard both the Miami of Ohio and the Kent State coach say the same thing.

Sammy has the answer. Softball can end for many reasons (injury, burnout, academics need more attention, clinicals and co-ops). Pick a school that if softball ends you would still be happy at.

The last three responses say it all.... At the end of the day her Major is what she will most likely do with her life, not softball. Was hard pill to swallow when ours decided to go to OSU for their Cardiology program, vs many other choices she had that would have enabled her to play.

Their heads are spinning at decision time, be there to support her either way..

It's all about the education, which school has what she is leaning towards? Which has the best programs? Softball is fun and great in college but in 4 years when softball is over, you have to like the choices you've made. I never saw a highschool boyfriend last past the 1st semester for myself or my teammates, so that should be the last of her worries, although we all know it is probably the first of her worries .

Education is always first. If you do not like the school you are attending for your major and only going there for the sport then you are going for the wrong reason and probably getting ready to waste a bunch of hard earned money. Remember to tell her she still has a long life ahead of her and a college education today is very important in heading in the right direction.
