Now that tryouts are done for the most part, thought maybe we could start a thread with coaches posting their rosters if they changed or even if they stayed the same. Thought it may be neat to see all the new changes.... Good luck to all the teams this 2017-2018 season....

Good luck with this...Hell its hard enough to get coaches/teams to post what they did the previous year, an accurate schedule for the next year or what their team needs really are...

I do think posting of returning players and their HS helps parents make choices.

Way too many teams needing 5 or 6 that post they are looking for that final piece or to fill the last two roster spots, Will consider: pitcher, catcher, MI, corners or OF...Utility player that can hit is a plus...

Hahaha. I thought tryouts were over weeks ago (about mid season)... ya know, after the backroom deals and frontroom speeches about commitment.
Dang it, back-in-the-day, I earned a merit badge in reading smoke signals....

commitment.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what this word means..... I used to but apparently it has changed... I think now it means that when a family GUARANTEES that they are committed to a team and then bails on them on the last day of tryouts in back to back years to 2 different teams... is that commitment? Maybe that's just being committed to being a family with no morals and to teach your kid that your word means nothing and that it's perfectly fine to say one thing and do the complete opposite...

I am rolling on the floor laughing.. But soooooooooooooooooooooo true. Learning to foreshadow is MUST have skill! BTW I thought it was tea leaves?

Ok sounds like I need my smokescreen/tea leaves badge here. Let me see if I can get this one. Someone left, cant say who, found a better option on another team 2 years in a row, on the last day of the tryout? They left the teams continuing to have to look.

technically they bailed 1 year on the last day of tryouts, this year they bailed a week after the posted tryout dates.. However tryouts were cancelled because the team was filled from a private tryout held prior to that.

unfortunately many players and parents have no integrity or loyalty when they think the "grass is greener" - believe me IT ISN'T

In my opinion, if you join a team for the 2017-18 season you are "committed" to that team for THAT season, not for life. If what you feel is a better opportunity comes along NEXT season, why not take it? Especially if your dd wants to play at the next level. It has nothing to do with disloyalty or having no integrity, it's about setting goals for yourself and doing what you can to reach those goals. Anyone who has anything negative to say about a kid for doing this, really needs to check themselves.

Agreed. Nothing was said about it being life long contract, each commitment is a 1 year deal.
The problem is when a player commits to a team then proceeds to go to other tryouts, bails on the original commitment and goes to a different team.... 2 years in a row

Wait... You mean coaches who switch orgs? Or coaches who are constantly switching out players?

Or coaches that constantly bring in "guest" players to tournaments and justify it by saying it keeps their players motivated to give their best effort. Thankfully, we haven't experienced that but it happens.

OH Softball - no one said anything about lifetime commitment - BUT integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking - when a girl/parents are going to "look for a better opportunity", they don't wait till after tryouts to tell the coach and move on - basically in secret - what's wrong with giving the coach a heads up so he continues looking for the best players out there to complement the team? As far as loyalty and committment - way too many people have no idea what that even means - broken marriages, relationships, etc at an all time high come to mind. JMHO

Well, this thread took a quick left turn..........lol

What kills me is when someone starts a thread like this - Why do they never list their DD's new roster? It may have went a different way, if the OP would have done that.
But I see it many, many times, no matter what the circumstance. Someone could say "Let's see what everyone's favorite flavor of Ice Cream is" & instead of stating they like Vanilla, or Peach, or whatever - they wait for others to respond. If you are going to ask this type of question, then be the first to answer it!!!

I'll be the first to throw our new roster out...

We got a pretty solid group for the upcoming season. I can't wait to get them on the field.
If anyone is looking to join a strong, competitive, dedicated and fully committed group of players... we are
still looking to add a Right fielder. Hit me up for a private workout... it'll be completely "confidential"

First base -- Who
Second base -- What
Third base -- I Don't Know
Left field -- Why
Center field -- Because
Pitcher -- Tomorrow
Catcher -- Today
Shortstop -- I Don't Give a Darn

I think even the possibility of the innocence of the OP's original post, posting your roster could open you up for the potential to lose players as there seem to be many teams still looking to finish filling their teams.

What's the percent of teams that have complete rosters right now? My guess is not too many, less than 10%.

No one is going to list name of players. Everyone is on a fresh start right now and the euphoria is high. Plus what happens if someone pounds their chest on what a great group they have and come November a few leave because of whatever reasons? Wont look good. So right now everyone just hanging around. Best bet is to lay low and see how the fall shapes up.

I think its higher than 10%... All the posts are only looking for 1 or 2... :)
