Last year was my first experience with Dayton, and everything I am reading about this year are the same reasons we didn't sign our team up to go back this year. After many years of going to ASA/USA qualifiers and expecting great quality, I was flabbergasted by what I saw last year.
Exactly what happened to us 2 years ago and why we didnt return. other opportunities to get a USA/ASA bid

Hey now don't knock the shoes! Lol

Joe good job with 10u it was great to see all of the tough competition on 2 fields! Hats off to lasers white those girls played awesome, I don't think they missed one ball in the last two games we played them, and they can crush the ball! Congrats again!

Storm 02
Only you could pull off the shoes Marc! Lol. Your girls played great this weekend. Lasers just played flawless for most today.

The same complaints every year. It seems that ASA simply doesn't care or hasn't heard the complaints. I'm quite certain the host organization isn't going to give up hosting with all the money it makes. Pressure should be put on ASA to demand improvements to the tourney. It has the potential to be a very good tournament. I saw lots of colleges represented.

Had a conversation with Joe A of Hillsdale College. Next year we are going to use his players to maintain the fields and the brackets. We will have his players at the complex all weekend long. The Hawks in return will make a donation to their softball program. This will hopefully solve the field maintenance issues.
As for the bathroom issue, that is a city issue. If anyone can push the city to fix it, please do. Or if they have a contact and want me to do it, just give me a name and number.
I did speak with the Hawks yesterday and in return for that donation to our program mentioned above, we will be doing whatever the Hawks wish us to do (except for maybe Port-A-Potty duty!), including bracket updates and maybe field maintenance if that's permitted. I can guarantee everyone one thing: whatever we're charged with doing will be done right and be done as promptly as humanly possible.

Maybe you can liberate the temp fences from their lockup and get them where they should be and on the fields.

I don't think there is enough there for all ages. I think 16 and 18 is a possibility for college recruiting from what shorty told me today.

I am sure they can rent some from places. It doesn't seem to be an issue at other big tournaments I have been to.

Shorty Brewer 937 855 7745...

The berths are supposed to be up for bid every year, any org can contact A.S.A. and submit a bid for the Dayton USA/ASA berths given out. Personally, i think that the berths should be divided out into separate age tournies, it was proven once again that giving them all to one org ( did hear The 10's were run well at another park, good job) is a recipe for a cluster f............

Thank you. I tried my best to run the 10's seamless. Coaching on top of being the TD was a challenge to say the least.

At one time there was enough for the main complex and 3 of the middle complex. Theyve run A.S.A. 14u nationals in recent years there with no problem getting them up, why cant some effort be done for this tourney?

Ding, ding ding, winner! You cant run something this big and coach a team in it also. Thats why the berths need to get separated into different age group tournies with other people running them. Hawks have had their chance and blew it., time for someone else.

Being new to it you would have a better answer then me. I fielded multiple complaints at Rowe from parents who had older kids at Delco and Kettering field. They were upset with the split locations and being 45 mins from their kids at the same tourney.

10-u Coaches,

This is Mike with Rowe Sports Complex. We want to thank all the teams who played at our park this past weekend, it seemed once we got past the almost 2" of rain things got rolling pretty good. We really appreciate the effort the coaches/ parents/ teams put forth to keep our park so clean. Our master plan is to make our park the premier destination for fastpitch softball in Southwest Ohio. Also want to say thanks to Jay for keeping the game going and on time. The level of competition was very, very good, it is seldom you see 10-u players with such discipline and character, coaches working so hard to teach the game the right way. Good luck to all these teams this year and bring home a national/ world title.
BTW - for the coaches that asked, yes our new indoor cages are now open to the public.

thanks again Mike, Andy, Daryl

Concessions are terrible. Restrooms are basically open toilets. Field maint is nowhere to be seen. 350 ft slowpitch softball fields in a not so desirable area of Dayton , Ohio. Couldnt get much worse.

Rowe is a great place to play and is on its way to being a premier location in SWO to play ball.

Am I missing something ?? Why is someone talking about the Rowe complex when everyone is bitching about the Dayton, Ohio Kettering field complex mess ??

The 10u portion of the tourney was played at Rowe, and seems like the only part that got any thing close to a good review.

The Kyle Softball Complex just North of Dayton has 12 Brick dust fields, new restrooms, 225 fences, no gate fee and field maint. ????

You forgot about the 65' base paths on one of the fields that went unnoticed for several games..... :lmao:
