I want to thank Doug and the Hawks for hosting a great event. There is alot of noise on another thread about some shenanigans at a 10u game - however, we, the 01' Mason Thunder had a great competitive experience. Thanks for bringing together some great competition for us to measure ourselves against.
We as coaches all received the phone call about the umpire shortage on Saturday morning, it is what it is...
We had great umpiring both days with the exception of our "professional ice hockey referee" at Art Van Ata on Saturday.
True story, I had the same ump, during school ball and he came out to ground rules and said, " I don't know alot about this softball, but I am a professional hockey referee."
He was bad again today, but was equally bad for us and the Express.
He by no means cost us a game, but did provide some great entertainment....

Every time I receive a text message I hope it's the announcement about the championship game. Does anybody know who came out of the losers bracket, lasers green or classics 00?? Whoever it is will have to double dip Storm 01 which will not be an easy task for any team.
Let's hear it for the great showing by all the 01 teams in this year's tournament. The '01's are for real!

Thanks all .. thanks for posting.. with the incoming storm last night (that looked like it was rolling in) we all were on fence tear down duty to stay ahead of it....

Winners were

8u - Lasers over Xpress
10u - Ohio Stingrays over Lasers Gold
12u - Mason Thunder '02 over OFC Heat
14u - Ohio Storm over Lasers Green (they scored like 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th to win.)
16u - Static Blue over Lasers Red
18u - Doom Gold over Ohio Hawks Gold on a walk off HR.

We will get online updated ASAP.

We had a great weekend of highly competitive softball... I apologize for some of the umpire shortages .. we had 5 not come back after Friday (heat) and 4 go down on Saturday due to heat. We need to find a way to get more younger umpires into girls FP honestly...

I know by having been a part of planning this tournament in the past that it has definitly had its high and low points. And i have been one of the first to point out what has been wrong. With that said, i give credit where its due, this has been the smoothest /best run this tournament has ever been, at least with the 18u division. Kudos to the Hawks and the head bird head for a good weekend.

Thats all you can say Doug is Crazy about him, lol. I was expecting a whole lot more than that. Nice weekend and much better than previous years. This tournament has come a long way. Only bad thing is the weekend it is on due to high school ball and last minute changes but nothing you can do about that. Just glad I am not you
