We have gone to a couple of coaches in the Akron/Canton area and a coach suggested Glen McCoy, we called about private lessons, he watched my daughter and with a couple of changes she threw a little harder and with much more movement. We are taking one of the classes that he teaches at Pinnacle Sports and after six weeks she has more confidence and getting more pitching time on her team. Coach McCoy has been a inspiration and motivation to my daughter.

My DD goes to Annie Voyles... Never heard of her till I went to a Wright State University camp and was totally impressed with her. She is an assistant coach at Wright State. We have been going to her ever since and my DD absolutely loves her. Guess I should comment that my DD has learned alot and has improved greatly while working with coach Voyles.

I don't know why, but Ron Poole (18U ICE) is never thrown into the mix. My vote goes to him.

Throwing out another plug for Jimmie Johnson, north of Dayton. He works great with the girls and explains everything for the girls and parents to understand. All his instruction is a one-on-one basis.
This post, and the hitting instuctors post are great ideas. Some may think these are popularity contests, but it gives some good information to people who are looking for good instruction. I`m sure all these coaches are good and have a great impact on a lot of girls or they wouldn`t be mentioned on here. I am happy to see this kind of thing showing many different opinions and options for all the girls. A lot of people don`t have an "inside line" on how to find instructors like this, but are looking for help.

The best pitching is instructor is the one that connects best with your DD...Our DD is getting ready to start her 3rd college season in the fall...second as the #1....she cut her teeth @ Spano Dome so she and Ron Poole spent many hours together with dear old dad catching on the bucket....Ron in his own way taught her to think like a "Pitcher" in addition to how to throw an awesome rise, change , etc...and taught her the most important thing is Location, Location, Location.....Ron , you will always have a hugh place in her heart and respect from the whole family! She even manages to touch base with him over breaks and has had the honor of pitching next to other top pitchers that have come out of the Ohio Ice Organization...Julie Boyes, Courney Pruner, and many others The other half of her skills have come from Dave Leffew...she started with him @ age 11...since he is actually closer to home it was a good combo as anyone who know both men know how different they are,lol....Ron is more to the point....Dave is more diplomatic,lol....some times the girl needed a more direct route and less diplomacy but truly thrived under both and will always be grateful to both for all they have taught her that wasn't necessarily just about pitching...Dave still coaches her when she is home from school as he is the asst coach @ a university in the same conference as hers....and it is really nice that no matter what is the outcome when they play she know he is alway routing for her to do well....Have to say thought that her #1 pitching coach is Dad....the hours the two spent @ the ball field and in the basement practicing between lessons has to get a large part the credit for the wonderful success DD has been able to enjoy for the last 10 years of playing fastpitch...To all the Dad coaches out there..Happy Father's Day

We love Mark. If you total up the dollar value of the college scholarships his students have earned, it is way up there.

LUV.... GREAT POST
Both of my pitcher go to Chip Gregg and the results are awesome..

Pitchers need to be challenged not put on a pedestal.

Just like any player if you never expect more from them you will never get it, and Chip not only shows them the proper mechanics but demands they execute those mechanics.

Thanks for developing our 2 PITCHERS.

I'm a student of Marie Shaver or aka "softballcat12" philbob is my dad. Marie is amazing when I first when to I had all sorts of mecanical problems and now I am in the middle of my second year of pitching with most of the mecanical problems abliterated. As of right now I pitch in the high 40's to low 50's with a fastball, a back-hand change up, and an amazing turn over drop she just taught me. She relates to your DD like no other pitching coach and gives them the skills they need to do what they love to do. She makes sure that the pitch is at the pitchers skill level and before she teaches your DD a new pitch she makes sure that their mecanics needed for that pitch are right. Marie does lessons in Parma. She was head coach of the Lady Lasers and has had experience pitching in jr high all the way up to collage level. She is the best of the best. Marie is amazing, there is no other word that describes what she does. I give her my vote.

I don't know enough to say who is the best but I will say Chipp is great with my dd and has always been honest with her and me. she only goes to her for hitting but she is pretty good at the plate. In the end it's who can connect with your dd and get her to respond

That's the great thing about Chip. He is versatile and is very knowlegable about many facets of the game....and the kids love him. If you want to get better at pitching, hitting, fielding....whatever....Chip is your man.

Chip IS NOT A CHECK CASHER PERIOD..

What ever the part of the game it is he will be honest with you.
You might think you are a pitcher because your mommy wants you to be but he will tell you where you belong ... Wat else can you ask for?

Very true. Chip is honest and will tell you his opinion. Chip will not continue to give lessons just to take your money if he feels progress is not being made or if a parent's goals are waaay tooo lofty concerning their child. A few times I have talked to Chip after he had to tell a parent the truth about their kid and how he could not continue to take their money because it just wasn't fair to them.

My dd started with Bill Kamer in southern Ohio. Bill is an excellent instructor for young girls and will not take a penny. When she was 9 she started with Kristi DeVries and was with her untill her departure back to Cali last summer. She was an amazing instructor and motivator. My dd grew more than i ever expected during those years. after she left we wanted to stay with the same principles and began working with Erica Beach. The only words to describe Erica is flat out awesome. DD made marked improvements quickly in velocity, movement and command. Now Erica has taken the head coaching job at the university of New Mexico and we r once againbeginning a new chapter in pitching instruction and after much research and personal inquiries we will be starting with Randy Mozeijko next week. Hopefully, he won't move out on us next summer..=)
