We'll be striving for that all summer but at the worst case we've always got Maryland for Eastern Nationals.

Good luck Heat 95 - I watched your girls and they are a solid team...

I wanted to thank everyone for this weekend. Organizing a double elim National Qualifier is a lot of work - we could have done better, and after what we learned this time, we will do better next time. All in all- it went great, thank the Lord for the great weather... I had so many folks compliment and thank us for putting this together - thank you to all that did - your comments and kind words were greatly apprecaited.

I wanted to thank the Dayton Metro Commissioner, Clyde 'Shorty' Brewer' and his co-hort 'Lou'... they were great, I spent all weekend asking questions, learning from them and their patience with me was awesome. Thank you Shorty and Lou!

I will be meeting with Shorty in a week or so to plan a similar National Berth tourney next season a little later in June to allow more teams to get in - and CGS, you will like this, the older teams to get a few weeks of training together in - prior to playing! We may hold a Nation Berth ASA 'A' tourney and a normal ASA 'B' tourney at the same time - using ALL the fields on both complexes. And if things go right - we will have temp fences in place - I do agree - I would love fences - over the fence Home runs are too exciting and add too much to the game.

Please pass on to me via PM any suggestions to improve the tourney (like a larger, more up to date bracket operation is coming - we will do that and have official game scorers at each diamond)- We tried not to over commit and run it sparten and clean this time - rather than try and do too much and muck it all up.

Again - this was a great collection of talented teams ... it all came off without major incident and despite the heat - everyone, players, coaches and fans were very well behaved... Thank you all.

Doug, given the amount of time that you had to put this thing together, you did a great job. Would the tournament for next year be 14U 12U or would you bid on an older bracket?

Thank you. When Derek brought this to us, after we already had the Early Bird running on the same day in Middletown - I thought we were biting off too much - but the opportunity to provide a berth to teams was too strong so we went with it. Again, there were so many folks in our org and outside our org that pulled both tourney's off - I am very thankful. Next year - just the 1 big one at Kettering ... we will have all year to plan and really do it right.

It will be 10u - 16u .. all played on the ENTIRE 11 diamond complex ... we will be shooting for a 72 team tourney around mid-June - with hopefully multiple national berths per age division...

On behalf of our parents, players and coaching staff, I want to thank everyone within the hawks organization for putting on a great competitive tournament. Our mountain thunder family enjoyed our stay and met alot of great people.

We have found out that you only have to cross the river to find great softball. I honestly can say we had to earn everything we got. Thanks to everyone and we look forward to seeing you all this summer.

We would also like to pass our thanks to the Hawks organization for running a great tournament. We would have liked to play up to our competition, but we will continue to work out our issues.

Congrats to the Static and Laser Red. Kavin - wanted to try and see you play, but was never able to. I'm sure we'll see you down the road though.

Lasers Red- excellent team - don't make mistakes against them, or they will make you pay dearly.

Also played the Hawks 98, Ice, and Glory. Very classy teams, with some great talent.

Todd... those 'issues' you mention are minor - all fixable as I like to say ... I can tell the girls have not had enough time together - prob due to Jr High ball ... you have a good team that will find itself and it it's stride soon enough.. I have really enjoyed getting to play you guys for the first time this season - you and your coaches are great guys, first rate (as are your parents) ... always nice to meet folks you know on ofc and like them even more in person...

In the 10U National Qualifier that was being run at Smith Park in Middletown, the Ohio Hawks '99 Gold won the berth to Chattanooga, TN. Great job girls!

Thanks Tod. It seemed as if when you were playing so were we & then we were trying our best to monitor the girls to make sure they stayed hydrated & in the shade. Wish we had a chance to talk. You always put a great team on the field & are part of a very classy organization. I think our paths cross a few times over the next month so hopefully we can play against each other & talk afterwards.
