PickleDad, was nice to meet you and your wife. I really thought that the Shockwaves first run of the game was an out at the plate, nice block by the catcher at the plate. Was that in the 5th inning of a 0-0 game? PickleDad, to answear your question about placing teams. 2 of the 3 teams you have for (5th, 6th and 7th) will actually tie for 5th and the last one of the 3, along with one you didn't mention would tie for 7th. I didn't look at the 12U bracketts late in the evening so I don't know the exact placement.

In the 10U, the Alexander Cubs N.C. (after losing to the Indy Dreams 7-1 earlier in the day) came back to edge the Dreams 2-1 to win the losers bracket, then double dipped the undefeated Johnson County N.C. Clipers 5-1 and 9-4 to win it all. Hats off to the Clippers parents and coaches-class act all the way, we enjoyed watching them all week. :)

In the 16U, the Indy Diamond Chix won it all. They won the winners brackett and waited for the winner of the losers brackett final between the Matoon Pride, Ill and Pittsburg Spirit Black. The Pride came out on top and just ran out of gas aganst the Chix.

In the 18U, I didnt watch this championship game but I think a team from Missouri beat the Lasers Gold to win it all?

Does anyone know if the Tampa Mustangs double dipped the Chattanooga Force in the 14U championship? Tampa was up 3-1 late in the first game and then an hour later they were still playing so I assume they played the what if game.

It's already in this thread somewhere, but Tampa beat the Force something like 8-1, but the Force won the "what if" by 1-0, if I'm not mistaken.

Hey Bink,

Pleasure was ours, nice to finally meet you as well - Enjoy your thoughts here. Thanks for the clarification on placing too, makes sense.

RE Shockwaves: I agree with you that the Shockwaves 1st run in that tight 0-0 game was probably an "out" - don't think she ever reached the plate although Ump said she got her hand on the plate. Jersey catcher made a tough play amid a hard slide/collision, inning opened up for the Shockwaves after busting the bagel. Hope the Indy girl's ankle is okay, great effort.

RE 14u: Chatt Force did come back to take the "what if" - Sapphires had the Tampa team by the throat most of the Loser Final before Tampa rallied late, and had great chances versus the Chatt Force as well prior to that in the Winner Final, tough tough losses - they very easily could have been Ohio's first NSA A champs - they were that good this week. Great competitive drama, cardiac stress, and Ohio pride! Ditto for Wolfpack Black.

Way to Go Laser Gold, on 2nd place, and to Laser Pink 10u (another team a run short of a LONG run in a pretty even bracket) - congrats on your Super bid & good luck at ASA next week.

Can't believe how much time I spent at the park on Saturday running from field to field watching "other people's kids" play. Nice tournament.

14u

1st Chattanooga Force
2nd Tampa Mustangs
3rd Akron Sapphires
4th Louisiana Crushers (quite a story here - all the families still live in trailers since the hurricane and they have had to make a lot of sacrifices to play ball and travel to nationals.

Wow, Don't feel so bad losing to the Saphires 1-0, Congratulations to them!

The Louisiana team played like their name and crushed the ball all the way through the lineup. Was real fun to play with only 8 girls against them the last inning or so due to injuries. It was more like there's the ball, go chase it...Ouch

Congratulations to the Lasers Gold 18U on a very impressive 2nd place finish at the NSA World Series!!

6 very tough games on Saturday in the extreme heat and humidity, with the final loss coming in the championship game, to a very tough, St. Peters Royals team out of Missouri..... final score 1-0.

Tough way to lose in the final, as the Royals only run scored on an illegal pitch call in the 3rd inning......of a TIMED championship game (game went 5 innings).........pitchers duel all the way, and a big hats off to Allison Cox, Laser pitcher. The Big Cat threw probably 24-25 innings on Saturday (19 straight at the end), keeping Laser opponents at bay, and along with the excellant play of the Laser defense, gave her team a shot at a National Championship in the title game.

Great season Laser Gold 18U, finishing the year with a Stingray tournament win, and a 2nd place finish at the NSA World Series.......great group of kids......fine young ladies and very talented ballplayers = GREAT TEAM.............Again, congratulations Lasers Gold 18U, and goodluck in the future (on and off of the ballfield)!!

Laser Gold 18U roster:

Allison Cox, Zane Trace, HS
Jamie Perkins, Convoy Crestview, HS
Kristen Bradshaw, Scioto Northwest, HS
Erica Faulkner, Wheelersburg, HS
Karen Simmons, Loveland, HS
Dee Dee Hillman, Defiance, HS
Leah Hammon, Lexington, HS
Ashley Evans, Ashland University
Alisha Etzler, Convoy Crestview, HS
Jessica Blanton, Wheelersburg, HS
Kady Caughenbaugh, Newark L-V, HS

Bink: I'm not so sure that I'd say the Pride ran out of gas against the Chix. They played twice during the season,
and were shut out both times. The Chix ran away with this tournament outscoring their opponents 44-3. Dominant pitching, solid hitting, and great defense won in 16u.
