Simpson scored a run in its first and last at bat, but it was not enough to stave off elimination on the second day of the NAIA Softball National Championships Opening Round. The #4 seed Red Hawks came up short against #2 Saint Francis (Ill.), 3-2, at US Cellular Field in Medford, Ore. With the loss, SU, the California Pacific Conference regular season and tournament champions, ends its 2018 campaign with a 34-22 overall mark.
