I will say this , Spano has been utilitarianism AT BEST!! finally new and more modern facilities have sprouted up which have shown to be safer , nicer , better prepared, and less mold. I agree that Spano’s communication is awful and there are ALOT better options , all it takes is an effort to STOP going !! It’s capitalism at its best !

And yes there is a reason that the Ice teams are favored in their pairings !! And are ranked up to 12u in polls , but no confusion they disappear after which ?!!

I am certainly ok with not getting accepted as well. However, the communication has been the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve called multiple times to get an update on the check I sent them 3+ months ago. I have received no calls back. I only found out from another coach that we weren’t accepted. It would have been nice if the Spano team would have contacted me to let me know we weren’t in.

Interesting that it's now an ENQ. Back in the day it was an ASA National qualifier. Must be losing it's luster in all the mold.
I go back to 2008 @ the spano. It was an NSA Qualifier, until just a couple years ago.

Indoor is not a first choice in general. Kinda like playing wiffle ball with all the goofy ceiling and ground rule double restrictions Spano in particular no right field and centerfield basically playing a church league or Coed short center position. its very difficult to get a real gauge on a teams progress with what would be a pop up ouside being a foul ceiling 1. Or a line shot up the middle to a center fielder that can literally make a flip not even a throw to second for an out. Or an absolute no doubt bomb HR outdoor that ruled a double advance at your own risk. Cmon man.... Not to even get into the facility or TD. much better options out there

Still smells like home to my kid. May be since she grew up on the dirt and it shows...thanks Chuck for giving her and her sister a place to play. Sorry we carried the dirt out of there every weekend and it ended up on my kitchen floor! Sure is more real than turf...

16U Ice Red #1 seed loses to a 14U team in bracket

14U Ice Silver #1 seed loses to a #3 seed in bracket

12U Ice Black #1 seed loses to a #3 seed in bracket

AND Chucks right hand man yesterday sarcastically tried to Deny that went on — I thought it was hilarious

Even though I still believe that the Ice is a good .Org, my view of the Ice teams are now skewed as I bet we can go back through my attendance at Spano, to see the more instances of the above finishes with Ice teams. I may be wrong though...,

Can I assume the #1 seed lost to a #3 seed in the final? If not, why would a #1 seed be playing a #3 seed in bracket play?

As for the 16U team losing to a 14U team......I could see that for many reasons.
1. Indoor
2. Older 16U players missing
3. Ice Red could be a 15U squad
4. 14U team could be 2nd year and strong org
5. Not much difference in a top level 14U team against a regular 16U teams especially in the winter

I see your point Run, and that could of happened, but it doesn’t seem a lil bit fishy that ALL Ice teams got #1 seeds.

Spano is set up in 4 divisions with 4 teams each - so 4 #1 seeds, 4 #2 seeds etc etc

Red lost to a very good Wolfpack team04 team, but both #1 seeds met in the Semis, BUT it happened to be the only 04 team in the tournament.

Both Ice Silver AND Ice Black LOST in quartefinals to teams that were 0-2 or 1-1 amd #3 in their respective divisions. I’m pretty familiar with a lot of teams and to think there wasn’t some fishy placement, then u crazy :)

And lastly to add

Ice Purple 09 gets #1 seed loses in 1st round to bottom seed

And Chucks lock pick Ice Blue 08 (Which I truly believe is a good team) goes 0-3 in Valid games.

Man I’m so glad Spano season is done, I bet everyone else is also so they don’t have to hear from me again... to spend money on this tourney in the future would be crazy unless

1... draw goes LIVE online
2... seeding of the tournament reflects an actual correct seeded tournament
3... good ole Chuck lightens up a bit and crack a smile once in a while
4. Tournament rules need to be examined again as ANOTHER 10U semifinal game is decided by runners to third base. (Better than 2017 “coin-flip Gate” where Lasers Silver lost a chance for a championship game on a flip of coin.

Appreciate what Chuck has done for many years, but it’s outdated and if he wants to talk ideas, I would love to sit on that board and help bring Spano back to its good ole days.

I’d add- pitchers need warm up time somewhere on field before games. By the end of the day, both of our pitchers had fallen in the warm up area because the floor/mats were slick.
