I found this somewhere while searching for info on this league. At the time I couldn't find anything on the how the league was seperated for softball, and I assumed it was probably for football, but I figured it was close enough to give whoever asked a pretty good idea.

Your welcome. ?The league has looked at the recent past records in each of the sports and they attempted to bring parity to each of the divisions in each sport.

What that does is to make it very difficult for anyone from outside the NEO to know which teams are in which division (River, Lake, or Valley). ?Heck most people in the system can't tell you more than one sport that their own member school is in. :D

How is it that the defending State Champion (Hudson) is not in the top division in their own conference?

You would have to ask all 18 Athletic Directors. ?I know that they looked at historically at what teams had done over the five or so years prior to the intial kick-off year in 2006 (they could not have factored in Hudson's 2007 run to the State Championship, just like about everyone else in the state) and they placed teams according to how they felt that everyone would be competitive against each other.

I would also guess that all the AD's would possibly admit that there may have been misassignments made, but I understand that they are going to be willing to make adjustments as the league matures.

My opinion is that the adjustments will also be seconded guessed by people in the league and out. ?But, also in my opinion, the leagues willingness to make adjustments is a refreshing change from what has happened in the past around the state.

The River division will be the most competitive.IMO. Stow is always good, Cuyahoga Falls has very good pitching and Hudson is defending state champs. Federal league is the league to beat.
