Good question, I hadnt thought about that. It would be awesome if they did. Especially Michigan games lol ;D Of course I am biased! But I'd watch OSU games and root for them against anybody outside of the Big ten, representing the girls of the midwest! ;D

I would have to believe with field hockey and s*&^%r getting tv time that surely softball would have a place.

I heard or read somewhere that softball would be included in their programming. Hoping to be able to watch Northwestern, Michigan, OSU and the rest of the Big Ten!

I have found out I indeed can get DirecTV in my condo. Cable-wise I'm limited to the clowns at Time-Warner. So my question becomes, do I stick with Time-Warner and miss out on the Big Ten Network and the NFL Network (and continue to give my money to a company I don't like), or do I risk having the dish installed and making a bunch of elderly ladies mad at me? I'm a big football fan, so it's the very definition of dilemma.

Last year was the first softball season for me with Insight's digital cable package. With all of the sports channels they have, I was glad to see that there were plenty of softball games telecast throughout the season, at just about anytime of the day or night. There are about a dozen regional FOX Sports channels and many of them featured softball. Locally, the Columbus Sports Network (CSN) showed both Ohio State softball, as well as a handful of Akron Racers professional games.

The Big Ten Network wasn't available until fall, after the softball season was over, so I'm not sure what their softball programming might be. I looked at their web site, but apparently there is no way to check their listings that far in advance, or search for specific sports on their schedule. As another poster noted, with all the other "niche" sports they cover, you would have to imagine that softball would get some coverage.

Either way, it won't be long before the season gets going and we find out for sure!

Joe, it is always easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.

And don't forget the DVR so you can record whenever softball is on and then watch at your leasure and FF through commercials ;D

I can just see a gang of 90-year-old ladies petitioning to have me kicked out of the community. Picketing my condo and stuff.

With your money Joe, just have both Time-Warner and a dish. ? And try to make friends with your elderly lady neighbors............maybe you could start another ball team with then.......The Buckeye Heat 75u team. ? ?::) ::)

Excellent advice. ?And if you want to go the conciliatory route with the old gals, just tell them how many more stations will carry Lawrence Welk and Matlock, if they get a dish, too.

To answer the original question I was at the University of Iowa yesterday and was talking with Coach Blevins and she told me that the Big Ten network will indeed be carrying about 25 Big Ten softball games this season.
