Twinkie's and Ho Ho's

Lets just start this subject out as THE topic.
The debate started on another thread regarding personal preference to twinkie's or ho-ho's....now remember the "ho- ho's" are plural...anyone shortens it a bit may get smacked. :-*
I believe we were discussing the foil wrapped ho-ho's?? i know a twinkie saved the game i was in, but i have to agree about that foil. it just did something...as long as you got it all off before you bit into it...and it didn't happen to hit a cavity filling..... can we all say "ouch"? LOL i can still pick out some radio frequencies.
I know this is so way off base for softball....but sometimes we have to come out of this "softball box" we all live in don't you think?
and maybe the next poll should be about the top ten reasons my daughter doesn't want me to sit close to her at ball games. lol
it may be the size of my hiney...no one gets too close. but this brings us right back to the twinkie's doesn't it?
yeah, i'm a nut.

is anyone else sitting here nervously awaiting the Bear??

seriously....i drove school bus for 10 years....it got to the point i no longer wore a seat belt, but a "restraint" device so i couldn't get up to go after the kids. so i tend to vent on the strange side.

oh but i do love softball.
whats the word on 16u and 18u softball for this upcoming summer? :)

Just2old I'm right there with you. For us OLD guys, the now Ding Dongs were then called King Dons and were also foil wrapped. These were more popular with my friends at St Charles grade school. We, (the boys) were not allowed to have balls to throw at recess, so we all would buy King Dons beccause they were bigger and we would save the foil to make a ball to throw around at recess or lunch break until the nuns took it away from us.
Personally my favorite was the Hostess fruit pie. Way back then they were 12 cents and you just couldn't beat French Apple,( Blue wrapper, little French flag in the corner ) Now they're a buck, they're hollow, and there's not a whole apple in a case of them, not to mention the sugar glazing has all but disappeared. I swear you bite off the end and hold it up to your ear and you can hear the ocean.

Right on the money with the pies, the best ones are lemon though.

Have to admit I've never tried the lemon. Now I find myself scarffing the strawberry pies when I find them.
Somebody on the other thread mentioned they liked Little Debbies,...ARE YOU KIDDING ME !! That's like the "Dad Pitch Ball" of junk food snacks. Thought I'd throw a softball reference in to keep the moderators interested. ;D

Definitely busted on Chocodiles, I don't remember them. However another lost favorite does come to mind,....Banana and Strawberry Flips. I think I'm going to see if I can get Hostess to be a sponsor for my travel team this year. Well maybe just for the season ending party. ::)

Wow, we got the lock down with only twinkies and ho-hos. You can tell it's that time of the year. Outdoor is over and indoor hasn't started yet. We are all like a crack junkie hanging out in the alley waiting for our fix to show up.

I rememeber one afternoon at my Grandma's house as a child. I was looking through the cuboards and found one of those foil wraped ho ho's. Jack-Pot!! First bite I took destroyed half of that chocolate gem. I looked at the remaining half... FULL OF PISS ANTS!! :-[ The new wrappers have taken care of that problem.

As for twinkies. Eat a twinkie then a bag of conn's chips. Will be the best bag of chips you ever ate!

Hmmm, ... the foil. The foil somehow said "big time". While all the others (Twinkies, Fruit Pies, etc) were using some sort of waxy paper type of wrapping or cellophane type wrappers, the Ho Ho & King Don world were like royalty with "FOIL" - what ever is inside of there MUST be good and important, and it was. :)

Lots of "fruit pie" freinds, but just too over the top fruity for me (that's just how I roll). :p

Gotta throw Hostess Cup cakes out there - I like the Orange ones (I know, call me crazy).

A hostess Iced Honey Bun gets me every now and then too (can one gain "2 lbs" from "5 oz" of consumption? - feels that way), especially on a long drive. Stop for gas, then the "pitstop olympic" competition begins ... The Challenge: can I start the pump, get inside, use the bathroom, and get back outside "just in time" to pull the hose & grab the receipt, and zoom off? - a PERFECTLY timed amateur pitstop that AJ Foyt & Richard Petty would have applauded. Am I too competitive, ... or just neurotic? :-/ But sometimes the hostess end cap in the store ruins my score/time, especially if the hostess choices are plentiful and the line is long at the counter with people who can't decide which lotto combo is the big winner (you know who you are - but I digress).

Okay, back on topic before Bear intervenes ...

Question in the multi-unit category though? - how many units to eat at a time? ... yeah, I know this is sort of like giving age and weight. See the thing is that one (1) Ho Ho is clearly not enough (just a tease), and two (2) is probably about right, but if nobody is looking sometimes I go for third (3). And, three is just a little too much, makes head spin around in circles for a while.

You know,..when the topic of cocession stand goodies comes up, and you know it will, this is a whole area that is obviously missing. I suggest that tournament directors and concession stand operators start making contacts with the local Hostess distributor. I mean the option needs to be there, right to the healthy snacks for the competitors. ;D ;D

Wow Thunder - whole summer business angle there. You could make some dough if you could get the summer distrubution rights from Hostess for the summer tournament circuit. Level of play would be reduced dramatically, but this is American and profit would be good. Sigh, I am sure that Statman has all the numbers worked out & Ringer has the marketing launch set - probably an old idea now though, in which that dynamic duo has probably already locked up the distribution rights & cornered the market. :D

Pickledad---that was just an absurdly entertaining post ---love the foil!!! ?:D

And this whole thread is hysterical. ?Ringer's right, we're all like junkies, scratching our arms, waitin' in the alley for our next fix (whether it's Twinkies or softball, I'm just not real clear on ~ probably both).

Folks on here talking about snack cakes like they're fine liqueurs, debating their qualities and nuances (and Randalman crackin' me up like he's some snob---lookin' down his nose at ?Little Debbies like they're boxed wine). ?;D

Too, too funny!!!

Katjoebenmom, what is wrong with us?!? LOL ... and NO, that is not an invitation for bigtrain to come back and answer that question. :-?

Winter is an odd time of waiting for that competitive "fix". Just something about the fastpich world - very hard working & competitive driven people, persevering in a sport made up of 70% plus failure rates, and long "down" time. We all know we are just days away from talking about the best teams, or the best bat girl for next year, ... again, and we will all sigh, think how dumb this is again, ... and THEN give our competitive opinions ... becuase we LOVE to compete, and that's okay at its roots.

Surprised nobody has "jumped" me yet for the "fruit pie" slight. For now, we are just crossing swords, and sharpening our antlers over twinkies - at least we can still laugh off these debates, and realize how easy it is to laugh at ourselves. Hey, perhaps we should think of our kids as twinkies & ho ho's (well maybe not ho ho's) ... when we debate? I think I'm going to stop now before I get labeled a thread killer.

But ho ho's and orange iced hostess cupcakes rule the day. Oh, ... walking taco's for the concession debate, and any brat or "all-beef" hot dog with FRESH ONIONS (please no chicken or turkey dogs).
