I use a small rubber football under the arm, so she cannot shove her arm up against her body. Have her swing with it under her arm. I'm sure a tennis ball would work, but I use the football for riseball drills.

What is riseball drills?

Mr. "H' gave me a big square car wash sponge with a string that goes round the neck.
Place sponge under back arm pit to help feel the way to slot on swing.

Have her hit with hand in front of elbow. - Grounders.
Have her go back to elbow ahead of hand. - pop ups.

Then find the place in the middle. - line drives.
That will be her happy place :D

I am sure you didnt expect the 500 word dissertation but that is the norm with Hitter.

Warning the internet police chief ThatGuy2120 is keeping track of every word I type so this may take more than 500 words just to water him off!

From what I am reading she is starting what we term connection...she is at toe touch and the hands have separated rearward slightly and the back elbow should be slotting and coming down and the lead arm elbow is pulling and making what we term a good first move straight ahead about 2 to 4
inches forward
with the lead arm elbow.

To get her to feel this action get a piece of rope about 36 inches long and put a knot on one end. Have her hold the knotted end as she would hold her bat and load and get to toe touch with the hands slightly rearward. Ask her to start her swing slowly and observe the direction her hand path is going. Note as she lowers the back elbow to slot make sure she gets to heel plant on a flexed front knee. You hold the other end and keep the slack out of the rope and provide some resistance. Is it over the plate? Inside the path of the path?

Get her to feel as the back elbow lowers and as the lead elbow is pulling that this is what we term as staying connected with the elbows or the elbows working together as a unit. You should visually see her hands staying inside the path of the ball and the hands NOT going over home plate or towards home plate and she should feel the power of the lead elbow being slightly flexed and the back elbow looking like a bent L shape.

You want the back elbow to actually clear the body...think of the hand stacked directly above the elbow or what we term staying strong on the back side. Have her pull slowly so she can feel the power in this position and then repeat the motion only allow her back elbow to stay closer to the ribs and she will not have as much power because the elbow is too close to the body. Keep repeating this motion and put the emphasis on creating a high lead arm elbow and point out the elbow is above the hand and the hand is above the bat head at a slight angle and our back elbow clears the body.

I have used a catchers knee saver pad and put it under their back arm pit so the tapered edge is pointing away from their chest and if the elbow gets too close they will rub up against it so they know the elbow is not far enough away or slotting and clearing the body. I made a strap to hold it on however I may be getting to my 500 word limit so the internet police may get me so you will have to figure out how to hold it in place.

The one knee drill has been posted posted before so do it and work on getting to extension next.

Hope this helps.

straightleg. dd is a pitcher. We use a small football and throw it under handed to get the correct spin. Riseball drill. Before we had H's toys. Now we use the Whiphit to demo what he is talking about. Not sure if you can order on line or not yet. Whiphit.com Great training device that Howard uses. We did the above drill at SWOBAT clinic and the kids could feel the difference. Straightleg, did you read the discussion today on Discussfastpitch.com on hitting basketballs and now a punching bag. Hitting the back with the bat. I'm laughing as a read some of comments.
