DD played 10u last year. Team played All NSA except 2. I see the post about Boycot NSA. In those other 2 they were ASA we had the same problem. Have been reading the post for a few days now, and seems the tournaments on the same weekends ( nsa, asa) all had the same trouble??? Why is nsa so bad? Coach plans to play NSA. We played plenty NSA tourneys last year and had a good time. Whats the issue? Woundering Parent!!!

Think you'll find one year can be forgiven, two may be barely tolerated, more than that tends to bring severe displeasure...

In a nut shell......N$A makes it mandatory that you have to attend a State tourney to confirm your trip to the National tourney. No other sanctioning body does this, that I'm aware of. So you have to play 2 tourney to go to one. Then compound that by the fact that the N$A States has been run terribly the last several times, and people have spent huge amounts of money and get very little if any game time in. Everyone is just fed up with N$A.

Not that I guess it matters.....but.....my DD team went to NSA Nationals and in 3 years of travel ball has NEVER entered and NSA State tourney.

I just heard this weekend they still owe our team 350 bucks from last year by cashing two checks that were sent to them when they said they didn't get the first....

SWPA: I assume that your moniker refers to the team's "resident" state. This "qualify for one be forced to play two" thing is an Ohio creation, I believe. And it is frequently honored in the breach. I think there may be a very few "direct qualifiers" in which Ohio NSA does not publicly insist on participation in the state tournament. What really hacks me off is I know for a fact that Ohio NSA will waive the requirement for certain people. What the criteria is for the waiver, I don't know because I've never seen a representative of Ohio NSA acknowledge this practice. All I know is that we asked for an informal waiver last year and didn't get one.

Fortunately we were not at NSA states last year but the reports were just horrible and we had a pretty miserable experience the weekend before with some of the same problems at an NSA tournament. Just not worth the frustration and expense to play NSA. The World Series (which except for 18U is not really a national but rather a "regional national") hasn't received too many critical comments but that's not really the issue in Ohio.

Hilliard Dad: I thought nothing would surprise me about NSA, but to have you write two checks on their representation that the first one hadn't been received and then to find out that both checks were negotiated . . .wow.

FYI.
In Indiana you must play USSSA state in order to attend nationals.

The NSA in PA has become a joke. I would reconsider any tournaments you might have of entering in this state.

Not to defend NSA, but we got zero games at the Farley tourney in Toledo (14U) last summer when it rained and everyone defended them saying they can't control the weather...

RMD 63 ---don't know if you fully understand the complaints at tealtown , it was not just "Oh shucks it rained" it was a TOTAL lack of communication, a total lack of effort to prepare the fields, total lack of a common sense plan B or C, total lack of respect to the families (charging adm to some , not to others) it was a 100% total cluster _ _ _ _ . There was no coordination. So the problem was'nt getting games in, everyone would have been much happier if they had cancelled the whole thing on friday night or sat am, instead they strung out 100 teams all day on sat with "2 hours behind" 4 hours behind , 6 hours behind, well lets just cancel" . after teams had set around day (in the sun) thats the gripe. not that tealtown "could'nt control the weather" go read the "it's all about the money " thread . Oh yeah games on sunday were decided by how many runners got to 3rd base . AND they rushed thru the semi's and finals to make sure the fields were clear for the mens league. MD

NAFA has a policy of not having to attend the States to attend Nationals.

Needless to say, I want you to come to the State Tournament because you want to... not because you have to. This is why there is a Northern and Southern State Tournament... so teams and parent can save some traveling money.

That about sums it up! Worse weekend EVER by far when it comes to softball.
I still remember just a few workers working on the fields that Saturday, but they had plenty of people working the food stands and selling shirts. Nothing like making 3 different trips there from the hotel to just get turned away again.

You do know that NSA started registering teams for rec. ball last year.

Then on Saturday afternoon the had other fields empty but did not use nothing like saving another $70 a game on umpire fees. Nice

It was their first year to do so. Here in Ohio, we have NAFA Rec State Tournaments planned for the girls and Mr. Moorehead and myself is running a World Series for the girls as other NAFA states will be sending teams as well.

Never forget the rec girls... they are our future elite girls.

I never told anyone this, except three people... but last year I offered up Goshen and their nine fields on Saturday at 4 pm and Sunday play to NSA and also offered Wilmington and their 7 fields at 7 pm for play on Saturday and Sunday.... and was turned down and told that we are just going to keep it here at Tealtown.

I could have taken a whole age group to Wilmington and played from 7pm on Saturday until whenever... all night as the fields are lit.. but was turned down.

This is why I left NSA after one year. I felt that they weren't in it for the girls.

And I was right. Why in the world would you turn down fields to play the state tournament on when they was offered.
