Thats why they are scrimmages, nothing more.....

I could be wrong, but I thought that highschools could not have an official scrimage until March 20th or 21st???? OHSAA does keep track of these things!!

Nothing I find limits scrimmages, in the 2009 Softball Manual is does say March 20th as the first day H.S. Previews can be held.

From OHSAA Rules. Scrimmages are limited to 4 scrimmages or 3 scrimmages and 1 preview. Why would you play a limited inning preview?

See below:

B. SPECIFIC REGULATIONS - Grades 9-12
1) Coaching and instruction may begin - March 9, 2009.
NOTE: Pitching and catching candidates may begin throwing with pitching instruction
two weeks prior to this starting date - February 23, 2009.
2) First game - March 30, 2009.
3) Deadline date for OHSAA Tournament - April 27, 2009.
4) Tournament seed/drawing meeting - May 3, 2009.
5) Coaching and Season end - June 13, 2009.
6) Scrimmages or Previews - Maximum of four scrimmages or three scrimmages and one
preview. Any contest played in a non-contiguous state must count as a game.

because you can charge admission to previews and you cannot to scrimmages!!! Atleast that would be one reason...I dont know of that many highschools that charge gate fees at Softball games anyway though..

If I tell you I would have to get rid of you. You can't ask a coach that and get an honest reply at this point in the season.

Wait, let me get my book of cliches..................

"We have some good upperclassmen that we hope can get us through."

"We are going to learn as we go."

"We have some young kids that we hope will make an impact."

"We play a tough schedule and we just hope to be .500"

"Pitching will be a competion for awhile until we see who steps up."

Seriously, we hope to be competitive early, not make too many mistakes and make a run at conference this year. Then we will see what comes at tournament time.

Oh, wait that's in my book too, LOL.
