Icemom, that was a very good game on Friday, I always tell my girls I don't worry about wins as long as we play well and improve I'll be happy.Yhe game Friday I was happy as we played well even though we came up short. Good luck to the Ice.

Cincy Ice 16U

The Jami Snyder Memorial Tournament was great. I would recommend this tournament to anyone. Unfortunately the weather on Saturday interrupted pool play so the brackets were modified to 1 and out. The teams were competitive and fought hard to the end. Congratulations to the Ohio Danger who were undefeated for the weekend. Cincy Ice team lost to the Ohio Danger in the championship game (giving them their only lose). The fields were lined before each game. I have to let Jeff of the Ohio Danger 14 know that he did an awesome job for this weekend for the 16U division. Good luck to all in upcoming tournaments.

Well they must have sent all of the good people to the 12U site. At the 14U site, we had some of the worst umpires I've seen in a long time. Worst in a sense that they had no clue of the rules of the game. One plate ump in bracket play severly limited our ability to play the game. Our team is pretty beat up right now with injuries. I started the game using the DP/Flex so I could move kids in and out if I had another. Well we did and I simply flexed the DP in the game DEFENSIVELY - batting order did not change - only defensive swap. Plate ump said nope, you can only have the DP come in for the flex player and the flex has to leave the game!!!!!!!! WHAAAAT??? I was forced to play with an injured player in the field when I had a perfectly good DP that was forced to sit on the bench. Even the UIC even said nope, DP can't be in the field the same time Flex is in the field. He said DP can only play the field if flex comes out of the game. I said what good is the flex then, who can the flex flex for? They said DP only. It wasn't until after the game, that I made them break out the rule book and read it. The only response I got was, "Hmmm." I also had to point out to them that the flex can run for the DP once she is on base, they had a real problem with that. It's hard to win a game when you have to battle the umps also. I think these guys picked up their ASA shirts at a garage sale.

Ringer- I absolutely agree with you!

I think the 14u site at Jamie Snyder was a training camp for these umps.

There were 2 homeplate guys that were just flat out unacceptable.

Not only had bad umps, the team we were playing was calling out our pitches. Makes sense how they won the championship.

This was a poorly ran tournament!!! Some teams did more waiting than playing. Ump's were awful!! Also was unsportsman like conduct on behalf of several 14u teams because they almost got beat by an outstanding 12u team.

I agree on most everything you said baller, however, not all 14u teams showed poor sportsmanship. We got what we wanted out of playing up, good competition. We played the HoO Rush to a 2-1 loss in a very good game and lost to the eventual champion 7-6 when they scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th. I will say that the HoO Rush team were classy even in a very tight game. Stand up parents and coaches. In fact, just about every HoO team we've seen this year were class acts.

Balle

I agree that this was some of the worst example of sportsmanship that I have ever seen. My daughter was playing for the 12-u team and she happened to be the pitcher during their last game. The parents were so irrate at their 14-u team losing to us that they started heckling my daughter. At one point my daughter got so rattled that she started to cry and the parents were like, "Ohhhhhhhh look we made her cry" in a very taunting tone. Our team never went to this tournament with the intention of winning it all but instead we wanted to get better; to have our girls treated in this fashion was so upsetting and horrifying. At 14-u the parents have been around more than long enough to know better. Shame, shame, shame on those parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus we waited 6 hours in the sun for our game to start--all in all not a good experience!

That's just awful. Poor sportsmanship indeed!! Parent's should really have more class than that!! They are "suppose" to be leading by example...There comes a point in time when people grow up and stop acting like children!!
and Ohio Wave 12u....I wasn't saying anything bad about the Rush...I was mainly finger pointing to one team...I figured they knew who they were that they didn't need to be singled out!!

Ringer, why didn't the coach protest, this would have been an easy one to win

I know there were multiple sites for the games. The 16U played on 2 fields close to I-70. The coach for the Ohio Danger 14 (who was playing up) did a wonderful job running the 2 fields there. I was amazed on Sunday how good the fields looked due to the 4 inches of rain on Saturday. We did have an umpire that was not consistent but our girls had to work his strike zone.

You would think, but even the UIC said that I was wrong. Now how would you feel about putting up cash for a protest when even the UIC said you were wrong and he would be the one deciding the protest. Also, why should I have to put up cash for a protest anyway. What is the reason behind ANY tournament wanting cash for a protest. The only reason I can see is to discourage getting things rights. This goes for any tourney not just Jami Snyder.

This was a very unpleasant experience. I agree with ringer!! These umps had their training at the 14u fields. Our ump didn't know what time it was and so he kept asking the losing team what time it was and refused to follow the drop dead rule. We ended up losing. I asked the tournament director for a copy of the rules, confirmed with the head ump that the home plate ump was wrong in doing so AND wrong for not accepting the protest. I made sure I told the head ump we were not looking for him to over rule the decision and therefor change the outcome of the game, we just wanted to point out his behavior and lack of knowledge of the tournament rules. By this time the home plate ump arrived and when questioned he behaved like a little kid who had gotten tattled on. He threw out this comment about our catcher limping off the field because someone ran her over. Confused by his statement I asked him what that had to do with the question he was asked. My husband began answering questions the head ump was asking and I went to get our head coach. We arrived back and our head coach joined the conversation. The Home plate ump was behind us and said loud enough for everyone to hear, including my 12 year old daughter, "Somebody needs to get that _________ ________ out of here!". My daughter was upset as was I. This is not the type of adults we want around our girls. My vote is to find another tournament next year. I'd rather drive 3 hours and play at a well run tournament with professional umpires than 20 minutes to put up with that kind of anger and language! What a shame! No one was loud or angry except the home plate ump! What a baby!

any results or scores from 12u or 14u ??

Don't know about 12U but I can report for 10s and 14s.

14U:
Champ: Ohio Danger Braun - 7
Runner-up: HoO Rush - 2

We were pooled against both the Rush and Danger. We lost to Rush 2-1 in a very good game and to the Danger 7-1 in game where we were not as good. We had 6 errors BUT the Danger did put the ball in play well that game. We then played the Danger in bracket play and lost 7-6 in the bottom of 7. We were the 7 seed out of pool play and lobbied to drop a few seeds to play in the "play-in" bracket game. I was looking for max games. They would'nt let us drop and we only got to play three games, but they were all against the champion and runner-up. We definately had the toughest draw but that is what we were looking for.

10U:
Champ: Ohio Wave - 5
Runner-up: Buckeye Blast - 1

It was nice to see the 10s get a win. They are a young team who have worked hard all season and it is starting to show. They are much better than the team I saw in May.

In the 12U division the champions were the Heart of Ohio Bombers who went 4-0 in pool and bracket play. Second place was a very good Gahanna Lady Lions with third place being the Ohio Flyers and Ohio Danger. All four teams played very well all weekend. We had the same two umpires for all the 12U games and they did a good job. Paul and crew did a great job getting the fields ready to go at 8am Sunday after 3+ inches of rain on Saturday. They raked and lined the field often. All in all a very well ran tournament. We were at Northeastern High School.

Thanks for the kind words hickorybuck. Sounds like the highschool and park went well, really do not know what happened at the middle school. I will say that all the 12u teams in this tournament were very understanding of the rain and showed great sportsmanship all the way. I must say the umps did a pretty good job all weekend as well. Mother nature did hurt play but all in all still a fun weekend. Wish all the 12u teams goodluck the rest of the year and hope you all come back next year.

Thanks to all,
Paul
Ohio Danger 12u
