You are welcome. Gives a bad taste in eveyone mouth if the problem isn't rectified with the teams.

Kavin: Want to share the dates that you was going so you don't have to go south? Shelbyville is going to be holding a few and if you haven't been there. Wow is all I can say.

Yeah, Tonya has been great for me and the 2 tourney's we played held by her.

USFA was very competitive. Not sure how it fits in up here with only a couple events. With the ASA dominance and USSSA presence and some NSA how many more sanctions can we support and make it worht our while.

We did the USFA WS last year as well and did OK. Loved the competition and the southern hospitality and the fact that it's on the beach is hard to pass up for families. Great umpires too... although that was a WS event so they recruited top umps from all over the south.

My 2 cents is bring USFA in if they can get enough events to make it worth while.

Tonya and Tim are first class I have been going to Columbus for along time and they have to be the best at operating a tourny.
just first class people all the way

I must say that the USFA world series is the best I have been to. Tournament is run very smooth and great competition. Also a great vacation spot with some ball playing going on. I would love to see USFA in Ohio for the points avenue. Like Kavin mentioned, when I was there 2 and 3 years ago while coaching Ohio Heat 12u we had to start off with very tough competition because of our seeding, not complaining because I knew it going in but I feel we could of done better if we had points like those teams did for a higher seeding. We played 110 games one year getting ready for that tourney and we had a blast, getting beat by the winner of it all 6-2 and third place team 4-3. I believe we finished 17th - not sure though. All I can say is this is the best world series I have been to by far, everyone in the family has a great time.

Please understand that I know Tonya is running events in Shelbyville... you might want to check with her about her usage of Columbus facility. But, if you haven't been to Shelbyville.... wow. And you guys know it takes a lot to impress me.

Kavin, others give me some dates. Maybe I'll have a qualifier in April and May and a state when it is convenient for all of you for the triple points.....

But, I will await to see if things with Coach McQueen is taken care of first. E-mail him and get your free WS entry Coach to replace what you lost to Walker. When that is all settled up.... then I'll set dates. Not a second before. Please let me know when that is completed.

Gentlemen: I've been talking to TD's and org about it. Would make a decision to bring them in if I don't have support from orgs. Can't do it myself.

Kavin, want to run a qualifier in Goshen. They are looking for an org to run a event in Goshen in April. Believe me, they are almost full right now. And they are only taking one tournament a month in Goshen, except for October.

April, August and Sept is left.

I had also chalked the situation with Walker up to experience.

After all of these years and hundreds of tournaments I have only had to deal with 1 crook I can live with that.

You do what you need to do to get started and dont worry about the past.
You know as well as I do there will be enough people judging you on what you accomplish for you to worry about the past.

We attended ths USFA WS the first year our oldest daughter played fastpitch travel ball. We loved every part of it except for the rain. It rained for the first few days and games were rescheduled and then cancelled. The other thing we didn't like was that in our pool we were scheduled to play another team from our organization. We were there to get other experience.

I have been to ASA, USSSA, USFA, and PONY. Of all of them, PONY was the most enjoyable and USFA was second on the list. I agree with the competition as well. Competition was strong at USFA when we attended. It was also very strong at PONY.

Then I will talk to him later today if you are sure Coach. Nothing worse than starting up in Ohio with teams with a bad taste in their mouth and somebody bad mouthing an org over the past when you are working hard to get it up and going.

I spent $3000 on NAFA start up and almost $4000 on IFA start up...... so you can see it is a big thought in my head whether or not to start up another... at least this is more well known.

A guy from North Carolina was telling me NC made Pony mad to the point that they left NC with their events in Cary. Is this true ?

But, it takes organization to make a run of it. 95% percent of tournaments in Ohio are org ran events.

I like USFA because the have a class "C" and "D". "C" is all star rec and "D" is pure rec league rosters. You know I can't leave the rec girls behind. I won't. They like to play ball too and down the road... they turn into travel girls.

Gentleman in Bowling Green has been wanting me to run a rec event there for two years now. But, getting info out to their leagues is rough. I sat all winter last year going city to city looking for their rec programs.

Sounds good
I coach at East Central HS in Indiana ( on the OH KY border) and we have 168 girls playing rec ball in the SOGFSA it would be nice to see teams have more tourny options that they could compete in.

Only been around fastpitch for 3-4 years but in that time I have found ASA to be the only one. Strong competition and consistent umpiring the others lack. See no need for the others BUT I would like to see USFA get established in Ohio just for their World Series in Panama City. USFA is down south what ASA is in Ohio. Went to Panama City this past summer. Strong competition and consistent umpiring in a beautiful setting. It was a great trip, one I know other teams would love. Good luck with it Timmy

I think it the biggest untapped market out there and I haven't seen a tournament where teams can be placed on fairness. Ricky Morehead and I have talked extensively about what makes it fair... so there isn't blow outs and bad taste in rec org's mouth to the point that they don't come back. The rec kids have been abused when they go to tourneys when the TD is all about money and allow travel B in their event for the entry fee monies collected. See it all the time all over in Ohio. Disgusts me personally. Their money spends just like anyone elses.. give them a fair event.

You have try outs ... you are no longer a rec team. Had a rec org once going to sue me if I didn't let them in one I had... you know me... I told them to come on with it. I ain't scared. To me, it wasn't right and I got 15 other teams to worry about being fair to.

I'll talk with them today or this evening. But, it is a major cost for me to start up another and I want the air to be cleared about past Walker stuff. And if you are clear of thought over your past dealng with Walker.. then I am as well and satisfied of such.

It's another big dip in my pockets... that I'll probally have to take a loan on to start up....lol

I've heard from many so far e-mailing me to take it and run with it. They see good things happening with it. But, then again, they are not the ones forking out the money to start it up...lol

But, I do see Tonya and I collaberating on dates to make it great for the girls. I've seen the list of entries from Bowling Green (KY) and Owensboro (KY) past events and it has seems to pick up in that area. Tennessee is strong and states down south. I think Goshen and Shelbyville can pull in out of state teams as Cincy is not far from anybody and this will give the teams an opportunity to play teams from other areas who come to attend.

Obviously, teams are concerned where they play at... due to rain and field problems when it does... and I am assured that Goshen can handle anything in that catagory without a doubt in my mind. Thus making it easier for out of state teams who come spend money on motels that aren't wasted.

Funny that you say that Coach.. as I umpire SOFGA leagues in Harrison and they have told me the same thing. But, the one thing many rec teams don't understand... they are insured for their leagues... go out of the leagues and they have to buy insuarance for their teams. That a big expense for a rec team to play one tournament and so far in Ohio... they have been abused so why bother is their thoughts. I want to change that for them.

Thanks Must. You know my umpires are MUST APPROVED...lol.... I got some good ones I think. They work hard for the girls. They better or they aren't with me very long. They are being paid to do a job and KNOW the rules. Plain and simple

Thank you. I want to hear these things. I want USFA to make good on Mr. Walker to my Ohio teams before I EVER agree to anything.

Thank you, I will PM him this minute.

I think my organization would be up for hosting a qualifier in April because there are a quite a few of our teams wanting to participate in the 2010 USFA WS. I will run this by the rest of our coaches but at a minimum mark us down as wanting to do it & I get you confirmation soon!!! If we have to do it in April, then I suggest as late in April as we can just from the weather factor.

Let me know what we need to do to get started.

I am to over the "Walker" situation which is why we decided to attend the USFA WS last year. After that event, USFA won me over - well ran tourney, great competition, incredible umpiring, & real nice people running the USFA at the top!!!

Well, that is what I want to hear from teams. I've always heard they run a great event in Panama City. With Tonya Perkins going USFA is a real big factor iwth me as well.

I'll hook you up with the goshen people to get this April a reality. Last weekend in April would be nice. Hawks in May (know after their meeting tonight), Doom in June, me in late July, August open.... September open... October (lasers ?)..me.

I know Doom has been talking about a Fall event (Sept or Oct ?) because from my understanding... Goshen rep doesn't want to wear out the park to the teams... so they are limiting it to one per month.

I'm calling him now to inform him that Static wants to be in April. Interested in Sept as well ? PM your number and e-mail addy asap.

I have to disagree with the ASA being the best umpiring. Being exposed to several different sanctions, I have found that the majority of the worst umpires we have experienced in the last 3-4 years were ASA umpires. I found PONY umpires to be the best and most consistent umpires in Ohio--at least this past summer.
