I was able to watch a couple of games last night. I'm not really sure of the final scores, as these are showcase games and players are being moved ( position wise ) around some. The Nightmare were up 4-3 over the West Pines Thunder and the Lasers Akadema Gold were down 6-5 to the Tennesse Lightning Gold 6-5 when I left around 830pm.

We are on a rain delay this morning...nothing new for 2009...lol. :)

P.S. Dan...is it raining in good old Scioto County...specifically in the big metropolis of Rubyville? How about Clarktown, Muletown, Twin Valley...I always like to get the "up to date" weather report when I'm navigating Rt. 139...lol. :)

Be Careful driving thru minford/muletown ! The ol Mighty Minford Falcons won their 1st SOC championship in many years , the whole area might be drunk for weeks LOL

keep those scores comin'

as for the rain ---nothing ruins an anticipated weekend like it. terrible fall, good weather during the week , crappy on weekends. MD

I heard that they are just going to play a showcase schedule instead of Gold. Not sure if either is correct.

If thats a fact, thats to bad. Know some players on that team and they are pretty good players. Hate to see any team disband this late in the season.

To put the rumors to bed this team will be staying togather, and after it coaching situation fixed itself it will be a strong team. Still in need of filling a spot or two but judging by the phoncalls from player parents that are comming in this shouldnt be much of a problem.. On a second note its a great situation playing for a coach that has professional coaching experience and doesnt try to run an 18u team like a 14u team.;&

I was talking to a friend of mine today and he said that this was a great tournament. In spite of the rain. The quality of teams, and the colleges that were represented were top flight. The pitching was excellent, several div 1 commitments. The DI schools that were represented were some of the nations best. Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Tennessee Chattanooga, North Carolina State and a host of other DI schools that normally don't get a chance to see our girls. That alone makes this tournament a must for any team trying to get exposure.

I don't pretend to know all the circumstances or issues with the gold team and don't really want to know but Marie tried very hard for this group and her intentions I believe were pure.
I'm sure this team will be fine .
To Marie good luck in your future efforts . Get well and rest up my friend,
JP

X-Static,

The info that your friend gave you was 100% right. I would guess that at least 75% of the 43 teams attending were high caliber ASA teams and the other 25% were above average teams, which for a showcase east of the Mississipi is about as good as it gets. Of our 3 games played we faced 2 high caliber ASA teams, so despite the rain and the loss of 2 games Saturday, it was well worth the trip! I know that one pitcher we faced was a 2010 commitment to the University of South Carolina and she was amazing!

As far as college coaches go... they were everywhere. To add to your list...I saw Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Miami of Ohio, Belmont, Elon and a host of others that I can't remember right now. And this was with Saturday being completely rained out!

Tim, it was good talking to you, B.J. and Scott down in Chattanooga! Good luck with your team this upcoming season!

Absolutly correct on your assestment Lee, I personally never mind the road trip for the above average compitition that are at these southern showcases!

Good seeing you too Bro!

Over 40 DI coaches in attendance, 12 were in pressbox watching Lasers White and Nightmare back-to-back
Lots of discussion about both teams players, loved the young kids
