Middle School Scores

I rarely post on OFC, but as a parent whose dd played for Loveland MS, I can tell you that there is not a better coach out there than OP. His team was made up of just a few select players, a bunch of rec players, and a handful of girls who don't play other than on the middle school team. He nearly always managed to play his full roster in every game, and every girl received much praise from him throughout the season. His dd is an awesome pitcher, and he should be proud of her. Her skills kept us in every game. My dd was one of Loveland's top players as well, and OP has made her into an even better player. Thanks for a great season, OP!!

funny i did not see him post nothin about your kid. it looks like op did not think much of her but im sure she played good and hard for him just like other kids did.

Only thing I ever boasted about our M.S. team was our pitcher. My chest swelled for her and she is not my daughter. We ended the season 9-8. With-out her we would have won maybe one or two at the most. Should I mention every time a infielder makes a nice play? No one on the team made such a difference in our wins and losses like our pitcher including my DD the catcher. On OP's team no one made a difference in a bunch of wins as their pitcher did. Middle school ball is made up of a mix of girls, some from travel (hopefully), some from rec and maybe some who have never played before. When you have rec or new players in the field you will have a weaker defense. No fault of theirs, they just have not had the training and experience. So unlike travel ball, middle school can be all about the pitcher.

So no, you are not right. You are sad. I wish you knew Jesus. In that spirit I pray you find whatever it is you are missing in your life that will make you feel better about yourself and not find the need to anonymously attack others. Be a friend.

My dd plays for the Gahanna Middle School West 7th grade team. For 90% of the girls on this team, this season was their first introduction to softball ever. For this being said, they have played well and learned a lot. I would like to congratulate Brittany on hitting her 11th home run of the season on Saturday at the Pickerington Junior High tournament at Pickerington North High School. She also had to step up and pitch for the team and she has not pitched since she was 8 years old. Way to stay focused and get the job done. I love how you have helped your team mates not only on the field but helping them improve their game through out practices, hitting and throwing in the garage, and going out to the field on the weekends too. I know your teammates appreciate the time you have taken to help them learn the game. And for the rest of the team that put in the extra work YOU ARE AWESOME.!!!! You have worked hard and it shows on the field. There are 2 games left for the season. Keep up the hard work ladies. Beat New Albany and Gahanna East. GO LIONS!! :yahoo:

Thanks Musty, momto77's, and danbritt - (danbritt I don't know who you are ) but thanks .

I'll appologize for my quick rude comeback on Friday but I was having a bad day and it was the last day of a long season that I really didn't want to end. When I was attacked I attacked back.

I actually have 2 daughters on the team - one didn't start and didn't play much at all- I certanily am not any less proud of her than my other daughter or for that matter any other single player on my team- what matters is that they all know I love them, and that they are important to me and to the team. This doesn't have to be said in a game re-cap for them to know and understand that.

unfortunately the pitchers get most of the ink - no different at any level when you read the press release those with the most hits and pitchers get ink. does that mean that the rest of the team was not valuable or didn't play hard or even as good - NO of course not. It is what it is - I certanily didn't start it.

I had 16 awesome players and 16 of the best set's of parents that any coach has ever had period - and I've been doing this a long time.

With that said let's end it and chalk it up to something taken out of context and move on.

Have a great summer everyone!

My dd's team (Mason White) played Loveland three times this year. Their coaches displayed a high level of respect for their players, fans, and the opposing team. You could tell they were well-coached because they never stopped fighting in the games and played well as a team. I couldn't even tell whether the coach had a daughter playing on the team. And, most importantly, all of the players seemed to enjoy playing on the team!

Softball00 -- Thanks for the kind words. With Firelands getting back into the same conference with Keystone, it's going to be fun watching the girls go after each other for the next 5 years or so.

Todd -- We've found Middle school ball to be better than rec ball, but not as good as Travel ball -- some of the time.

Pickerington Lakeview over Pickerington Ridgeview 11-1. Great season - Lakeview - 17-2. These girls will have some battles as they get to high school.

I think the discussion from 2 months ago was about the Loveland coach & his posts. Nothing to do with Mason........

But your post made me go back & read the last few pages, which gave me a good laugh before bed.........lol
