Okay, DD plays 16's and has metals for school. Can she wear her metals at these org's tourneys?

ASA's?
USSSA?
NSA? (just in case, but i dont think we play in any NSA events)

I believe those are the 3 sanctions we are playing this summer.

No mroe cleat questions, I promise

I believe that metal cleats are only permitted in high school ball, no sanctions allow that I know of.

I have a cleat question too. My DD (a pitcher) goes through 2 or 3 pair a year (well, really her right cleat only) because of wearing holes in the toe area. The second problem she has a lot is her stride foot will slide on some fields. Her cleats don't dig down enough on hard/dry fields and her foot will slip forward sometimes bringing her down on her knee.

Are there any cleats that are specifically made for pitchers - steal toed and better tread? Any suggestions? More concerned about the sliding issue, I don't want her to hurt her knees. I can get by with buying them more often....feet are still growing anyway!!

Ringor makes a great steel spike. My daughter has worn hers for 2 HS seasons and they will be ready for her 2nd summer ball season. I believe that ASA allows steel this year 16 and up. NSA has allowed them for a while

bulldogcoach, there are cleats on the market for pitchers...we have been pondering the Ringor, but it's close to $100 for a pair. We buy our daughter a tuff toe, something to glue on the drag toe of the cleat to prevent holes in the cleat. I think they cost somewhere around $8 to $10 at MC Sports. DD is actually still wearing last year's cleats with the tuff toe. It lasted last year thru school ball and summer and so far thru school ball this year and still looks good.

We got the Ringor Gems. DD loves them. Tough to break in, but it's worth it.

Ringors. One pair with the "pitching toe" lasted through a spring/summer of high school AND travel ball. Beat every other cleat she ever had - hands down! Considering she went through 2 - 3 pair of other brands, I'd say the Ringors were worth it.

As far as her stride foot slipping, have her pitching coach check that out. Maybe her weight is shifting, or she's not planting properly.

Is she prepping the pitching area to her liking (digging, loosening the top surface with her cleat as needed)? Is the playing surface rock hard? Again, ask her pitching instructor. The only time I remember my DD complaining of slipping was in Florida sand - the field was like a beach!

Got a decent pair of metal cleats from 3N2 for $75 including the reinforced pitchers toe.

We are sponsored by Ringor this year & are wearing the Diamond Gem cleats. For pitchers they come w/ a built in pitching toe. All 3 of my pitchers love them & they only weigh 10 ounces as well - so very light. Adding the pitching toe to the Diamond Gem is $15 bucks extra but well worth it. Yes the Ringors are expensive but just think what you spend if you buy 2-3 pairs of $50-60 shoes. Investment early for savings down the road.

Another thing I've seen is where a facility prohibits metal cleats regardless of sanctioning body. We just played in Pigeon Forge, TN over the weekend, and I saw signs posted stating absolutely no metal cleats.

But if you're going to (allowed to) wear metal cleats, choose Ringor!

I do believe Metal Cleats are allowed in ( ASA,USSSA) and not sure about NSA. Think you have to be 16s to wear them. Might be mistaken, but im sure someone will chime in if wrong.
