Sounds like the long range forecast is good for this weekend. Just HOT and maybe evening heat showers.

Give us a weekend without rain !!!!! Kids, parents, coaches need a break from the rain.

Well if we do get a little rain we can handle it. In our May tournament we had 2 1/2 inches of rain from 6:00pm Friday until 4:00am sat morning and all diamonds started at 11:00am saturday. Got the tournament in and only lost a few games.

A bit tougher this go round though, more teams, more fields, tighter schedule to get complete I'm sure!

On that thought, I assume many may be playing under the lights on Saturday nite to fit the number of games in?

You are right U-Trip. Schedules are tighter this time around. As Rich said earlier, we had to turn away a fair number of teams. We are already starting on Friday at 2:00pm and we probably could have taken all of the teams but then had to start at 8:00am on Friday. It's a no win situation, We felt bad having to turn teams aways, and no not because of the money, but because they may not have a place to play this weekend. If we took them all, then who's going to draw the shorts straws and play at 8:00am Friday. I don't want Quaker starting a "Greedy TD" thread about us.;)

Anyway, here are some answers to cgs' tournament questions thread.
  • Coolers are welcome with both food and drink. However, we urge everybody to sample the concession stand, They actually do have pretty good grub and an excellent breakfast sandwich. Plus I'll put their walking taco's and nachos supreme up against anybody.
  • They ask that grills be confined to the parking lot areas. Probably has something to do with insurance or something.
  • Our UIC sets up a three man crew with two umps for ALL games. They work 2 games on and one game off to stay fresh.
  • NO GATE FEES, NO PARKING FEES
  • Will start at 2:00pm on Friday
  • We have plenty of Diamond Dry, Kitty Litter, dirt, etc.
  • Field Crews are combination Union and Non-Union. I'm non union, but we do have some parents who are union workers. However, they are all volunteer this coming weekend.
  • The fields are supplied by the local rec programs and therefor they get 100% of the concession revue. Stebbins is provided by GGSA (Greenville Girls Softball Association) and Sater by GBB (Greenville Boy's Baseball)
  • 100% of ALL money made is put directly back into the area youth sports.
  • As any TD knows, a true Double Elimination is the most profit prohibitive format you can run. A simple round robin format offers the minimum games and maximum profit. However, this is our signature tournament and we felt a true double elim is the way to go. Everybody knows to just stay out of the loser's bracket, or else have 5 pitchers ready to go.

Once pool play has been completed the teams will be seeded into the double elimination tournament. Each coach will get a copy of the brackets with game times and locations in their coaches packet. Bracket play will begin on saturday.

New rain schedule. Please check the tournament site for pool assignments if you are not sure of your pool number. I'm updating this from the fields and don't have access to a PC.

LOL You guys don't "overbook" your tournaments to be greedy :yahoo:I'd be the first one to say that !!!

Grills are a problem with insurance companies of these parks and others. All you can do is go by THEIR rules.:) Don't have a choice.

Miami Valley Xpress 11U won the 12U and the Miami Explosion the 14. Not sure about the other 2 age brackets.
