Central Ohio OCC

To be honest, I wish we (Teays Valley) were in the OCC, as it would prepare us for the Division I tournament.

Just out of curiosity - did I miss a mid-year conference change? Why is Teays Valley being discussed in an OCC thread? Yes, they will be very good as always, but it seems rather off topic.

Just a side note. Seems that teays was offered a slot in the OCC and the AD turned it down. Word is that he thought the distance to the schools was to far and the increased travel cost would be an issue with the parents. I guess he should have asked the parents and the kids.

Kind of short sighted if you ask me...

Oh, btw, sorry to be off topic ;&

That is a shame. I know TV is going through a budget crisis right now, so I guess I can see that argument to a point. I would assume we would have been put in the Capital division due to our size, which would have a few long road trips involved. Most parents I know would be up for it. I just hope it is not something else besides $$$.

Wait, I thought the topic was "What teams are forecasted to be the next wave for a few years and why?"

Well my good natured (Rick) friend...the new wave of teams might need a couple of talented freshmen to merge with the returning VP in order to push them to the top. :)

So Bink's post IS on-topic. How will these players help move their teams in the OCC!

I have known the Coop family for years - and putting her on the field at Delaware Hayes will definitely have an impact for the defense there. The question will be - is there hitting to back up the pitching? Westerville North played Hayes in the sectional last year and came away with a shutout, if I remember correctly. Without hitting, great pitching just makes the game closer - it doesn't win games. Does anyone have a forecast on how hitting will progress at Delaware?

Big Walnut has traditionally been strong in the Capital division, and Hilliard Bradley is bound to be tough too as they still have some strong carryover players that spun off from Hilliard Darby.

With Paige Myers vacating the circle in Grove City this year I have been wondering who will fill that void - I know that there was at least one other pitcher, but I didn't follow GC closely enough to know the makeup of the team. (Maybe I should have followed more closely - North ended up losing to GC in the Districts!) Will Ash step in as a freshman as the main pitcher? Will she be splitting time? Certainly there was enough talent in GC to support a young pitcher - but can GC retain their Division title?

Mark...The Ash girl at GC is not a pitcher but a good hitting corner (1B/3B) player
Reminds me a little of a young Katie Yoho.

Delaware has another Impact Freshman by the name of Kaitlyn Woerner
Heath has Kylie Gross as a incoming freshman.
Ash definately will help GC. Do not know their pitching situation.

Delaware has two HR's hitters in Freshman and still has speed in one of the fastest kids I have seen as a SR.

@sideliner:

Coop will be recruited by Division 1 colleges as much for her hitting as for her defense, and that is saying a lot. Her pitching is great and her SS play is outstanding. But those defensive skills should not over-shadow her offensive skills.

Bradley will have the same lineup as last year, since no Sr's last year, minus a SS who is focusing on B-Ball.... There could be one or two Incomers that could make the lineup as well, so they should do well again this year. As long as pitching stays healthy for them and another aggressive schedule, should prepare them for tournament time.

I see Central Crossing and Groveport in district finals. Crossing is just two deep and as much as I think Emma is the best in central Ohio Dorsey is right there. Plus excellent coaching staff,Dakota Pyles is a stud and will have a huge year I predict.
Hilliard Bradley will be solid and may just be the spoiler , Roudabush is as good as it gets offensively and devensively.
Grove City has lost alot and I'm not sure what they have coming in ,same with Gahanna .
Teays Valley will be good again ,lots of kids have been waiting for there turn to play , Plus another Taylor in the circle, Prantl, Nestor, they have some really good freshman coming in so they will be tough for the next few years.
Good Point about not joining the OCC , but realisticly next year we will have one of the best leauges in the central Ohio area , Dorsey, Roudy, and Johnson will be gone . I believe Mid State Leauge will be really solid .

Think I know where you're going with this?Isn't there a pitcher we may start talking about?

Lancaster hasn't been "in it" since the Katie Maynard days. But I'm pretty certain they will be a team to watch out for this year.

Is Lancaster in the OCC? If so, who is this pitcher we might start talking about? Just curious. I also wanted to add a girl at Westerville Central, Paige Mcmenemy. She is a great player who will definitely help that team, quality pitcher and a very strong bat.
