There are lots of constructive critiques listed here. I will say that this is not your usual thread where the TD or organization runs away and hides. Doug and the Hawks are listening and reading the critiques and making on-the-spot corrections. I'd even bet the learning curve has risen sharply.

Doug and the Hawks have always communicated well with others. I would recommend that after the tournament, send the TD a well thought-out email with issues that arose and you can even list some possible solutions.

Ahhh. Communication is a wonderful thing. :)

I don't really care who wins but I am pulling for the Riptides! That way if they win it all, it will make the Cannons 10 inning loss to them look that much better (if a loss can actually look good). Not to mention they were a classy team.

Thanks, and keep the updates coming if you can. :)

Riptides vs. CO Vipers and Ice vs. OFC Heat 96 should be going on now as well in the 14U group.

I see your point, the ole buck stop here kind of thing but it's not totally fair here. Hitter23 said he got assurances 3 times from the city of Dayton that the fences would be up. Dayton is responsible for the garbage and fields. What else could they do? This is the first time working with them. Now if this was the 3th time the Hawks ran the tourney and used the city of Dayton parks and we see the same problems year after year then it's all on them but I don't know what else they could have done. They are victims too it's seems. Dayton may be blowing a good opportunity to bring dollars into their lowly city for years to come. IS their anything good about Dayton anyway?? hehe

Thanks Musty, youre right on with this. Being a "seasoned" OFC'er/fastpitch parent i knew exactly what needed to be locked down before the tournament and made sure i got these items to the city. With that said, the City dropped the ball on quite a few things from the fencing, the field maintenance, to trash.

This is the second year that the hawks have run this tournament and they didn't have outfield fences last year either...... just saying.

Being the first tourney of the year the competition was unbelievable. Field and compound conditions could have been better but..... it is what it is. None the less, thank you to the hawks group for bringing such talent close to home!

12u Updates- just saw Grand Slam get the win over Laser's Red 6-2, so those two teams are one & one against each other (Guess Laser's beat them in pool play but Grand Slam started their #3 pitcher and had their infield playing outfield during the pool play game).

And what the heck happened during the Hawks Lenos game??? I heard "loud words" were exchanged between the Hawks coaches and the cops were called......KK going somewhere else???

Did you think that there were a lot LOT ... LOT of bad calls this weekend? Do you think the Blue needs to re-read the rule book or do you think they did a fine job? JUST WONDERING!

Finally, some 12U info. Are Hawks still in winners bracket? More updates please.

Would KK look good in red?

Now maybe Grand Slam will get some more votes in the 12u polls. I knew they were good but not being a "name" team I thought they and some other teams up north kinda get overlooked.
