Why did certain threads get locked???

I've been following the Poden-Smoden threads for many a reason and I noticed this morning they were locked. What happened? What did I miss? (Yeah don't post it here though don't want this one shut down)
Where there inappropriate posts (that were later removed)?

Or did this HS coach "threaten" to sue to OFC for slander?

Poden has been silenced(censored). What a shame. Wonder if his account was taken away also? I was wondering also Steter.

If that is truly the case, then that is a shame. He never mentioned any names and it is his story to tell. Even though some had already figured out who it was no one ever posted the name. I really wanted to know the story.

Not every poster on here needs to know every dirty detail of every story out there . The story does need to be told but this public forum might not be the best place . The subject matter was so serious this just doesnt seem to be the place to air it . The owners of the site have responsibilities also.

I feel like since it is softball related it should be told on here, how else will 90% the softball community find out about this situation? I understand that OFC has to be careful but we all deserve to know when someone in the softball community is doing wrong! Poden definitely was dragging it out but it needed to be brought to the publics attention.

How is it slander if no names were mentioned. I for one didn't know who he was talking about and was interested in following the rest of the story.... as long as no names were mentioned the admins should allow it!

This is why you do not turn serious things into a soap opera...If it is a school issue follow protocols and you can use meeting minutes and other areas of public record to get your point across. (Our school board meetings are video taped).

If it is a criminal issue involving a travel coach/parent follow the proper complaint procedures and guess what....That will be public record as well...No slander, no hear say, just the facts... then people can draw their own conclusions and they have informed their community of possible wrongdoing.

If the poster wants to finish his story or start a new one Yappi or Discuss Fastpitch are the type of forums where that type of stuff is common.

I don't often post here but Poden's writing style is very similar to another longer time member. A couple of comments also give me that impression. However, I am not sure and so would never hazard a guess as I could be wrong. Still, there are a few things posted that surprise me and could be used by any of us to figure this story out. I don't know that I care to do the research. If Poden is correct in his assertions, there should be "breaking news" about what he presents. In the end, this story is about someone who is around children and so, I hope the best and right course of action is what happens if any action is actually required at all.

Totally agree with CARDS. I may be in the minority, but I do not enjoy seeing a person dragged through the court of public opinion. If it is true that the person referenced in Poden's story has a court case pending or in process, he clearly cannot come on here to defend himself. I can understand if you feel a loved one has been wronged by another to want to bring that story to the public's attention, however, it needs to be done AFTER ALL the facts have come out... not before. If this is as big a deal as the story promises then I am sure the public record and court findings will speak for themselves. I am glad to see OFC put a stop to this one sided attack (warranted or not) until a more appropriate time.

That is part of my dislike for how this played out , I read most of it and couldnt decipher who the " bad" guy was .. a travel coach , a HS coach , A recruiter , or who knows . The whole thing was written in a form that unless you had some inside info you didnt know what was attempting to be conveyed . It was a confusing mess to me . And from lots of experience . A coach of any level even attempting to " defend their honor " on a public message board is going to turn into a cluster bomb real quick and is NEVER a good idea .

Steter, I read the first post from Poden and pasted some below. Maybe I'm wrong but "the high school coach" will be answering to OHSAA, probably the NCAA due to alleged recruiting violations and probably law enforcement for theft, embezzlement or whatever charges result from misappropriating funds from the athletic program. In any event, if someone made crystal clear they wanted to take a person down for the things listed (and the things I know are to come) I would assume that person has an attorney and wont be posting on here anytime soon. I would count myself as a supporter of Poden from what little I know, but just think it is better to wait until all of the facts are out before doing this on here.

I will be honest. I joined this forum thinking that I knew everything already and was planning on just using this forum as a tool for revenge when the time came to ruin an individual eventually. This person deserves it as this coach has manipulated and essentially stolen from many people for a long time in various ways. This person needs exposed for who they really are and needs taken down for the betterment of all. This person is not a college recruiter but thinks they are!!! ...

The above is for you guys but the NCAA will be receiving info on an illegal camp/clinic that was not presented to anyone except 4 individuals that was created by this coach. OHSAA will be notified of illegal recruiting (My DD), illegal practices and coaching (currently and forever), yet to be determined on who to contact with info regarding pocketing money from fundraising events along with previous ventures with a hot stove league, can?t really tell anyone on them for the lying, manipulating, cheating, stat padding, etc?.that will come in the posts mostly and just show their character!

Tom you are right on, Just too many question marks.
NCAA could care less about a HS coach...OHSAA would be more in contact with the AD or school principle prior to any communication with the coach..OHSAA would most likely ask for an internal investigation about said complaint.
The school super or school board would also be more involved than law enforcement and "if" they felt the accusations warranted law enforcement involvement they would be invited in. Not to say Poden does not have a case just they went about it totally wrong IMO...As far as HS stats really...Only a few high school leagues reconcile stats. In our area ECC, GCL,GMC, GWOC the others nope.

The good news is it is a learning experience them and for others that may be experiencing the same issues with a travel or High School coach and hopefully; they follow or ask for proper ways to inform district or law enforcement.

It's not censorship when the forum is owned by an individual who has the right to deem what is or isn't appropriate on their website. The original poster could have started their own blog and directed people there to read about it.

Poden is my hero...there are some people out there, who only fear public humiliation. Others just do what is right, even when no one is looking. For the small amount that just aren't going to do what is right, their only fear is getting caught and what others will think. If you haven't met someone like that, consider yourself lucky. I'm not trying to disagree, but I whole heartily understand. I'm shocked he wrote so much, it must have been hard for him.

Plus, let's not make the victim, the bad guy. Something wrong happened, don't beat him up for his reaction. Most people would have a "bad reaction" or seek revenge, if their own child was hurt.
