You do know how the draw works I'm sure. Teams pick where they want to go in order of their seeding.
In half the state yes some of the districts have no say just fall in place according to seed. Just another puzzler from OHSAA.

I'm not sure how they do what they do. I'm also pretty sure i'm not the only one.

All state brackets are no longer decided by a coach picking what line to go on the bracket. Standard seeding is being used in OHSAA starting with Baseball/Softball then going to Volleyball/Basketball in the fall/winter. EX. In a 12 team district the #1-4 seeds will get byes with 5 vs 12, 6 vs 11 and so on.

I was told by multiple AD's out there that it was easiest to push on the spring sports this year and tell Basketball its a policy already in place. (So no more of the #1 seed selecting to play and beat up on a poor 12 seed just cause they dont want to take the bye.)

It had to be voted and approved not all districts passed it, Central and southwest still picked placement.

Now I'm not saying that I like the way they do it but doesn't the higher seeded teams play lower seeded teams in the early rounds in all sports?

I think the real advantage is with the 3,4,5 seeds if they won earlier against the 1 or 2 seed they lose the option of picking that side.

Ok, I am glad someone brought this up because I have been scratching my head since last year on this subject. Last year was my daughter's freshman year so this was new to me but when the draw came out, it had us playing in a mini CBC tournament. I thought when you went into the state tourney you would play schools that you haven't seen before. Not to mention our conference is loaded, so in order for us to get out we have to beat 2 top 10 teams that we have already played this year. It just did not make sense to me, so if someone could explain the process I would greatly appreciate it. Also if you look at the bracket, they have the top 6 seeds in the lower half and the worse seeds in the upper. If you can win your first two games, then you will get an easier game?

I don't know if this will explain it very well but there are 3 Dayton sectionals 2 Cincinnati Sectionals and 1 Tecumseh sectional. Here's the breakdown.

Thank you for the info, but it still does not make sense to have so many in one and only 6 in the other.

Ok I think you might have lost me here, are there some teams that get a cake walk all the way to state?

Not really...When they get out of their regional brackt the going gets tougher...

If a team has good pitching they can run for a league title...Add in a good coach, catcher, two or three hitters and a few speedy players and a team can make a run to the sweet 16 in the tournament...
After that the teams with good coaching and solid players 1-9 take over...

Personally; I never bought into the high school strength of schedule stuff...It comes down to pitching period. If you have a strike out pitcher it can overcome a lot of problems. Once you get to the better teams after the first couple games you have to have pitching, defense and the ability to make contact. Not necessarily a hit but contact until you get to the top 16...

My thoughts exactly Cards. Hitter made it sound like some teams get a cake walk to State and I didn't see where that could happen.

You dont let the coaches at the meeting decide the seeds, they manuever the system to where order of seeding manipulates who picks their spots. Also a already drawn out bracket , take the good ole boy system out of it.
Hitter ,You nailed it again the Good ole boy Network is still alive and well in the Draw and between some Umps and some older well known Coach's.I've seen some basic calls overturned by there influence, not good for the game .
Hence my Thread about when is it time for them to go

More like you didnt comprehend wtf i posted. At no time did i say anyone would get a easy way all thru to the state. As Cards mentioned , after you get out of the districts, your home town influence wanes....
