We are looking for the right player to help us have one ofthe best teams in America. Last year we were ranked 1[SUP]st[/SUP] in Ohio on theOFC poll and placed 17[SUP]th[/SUP] at the ASA/USA Nationals. We could haveplaced 7[SUP]th[/SUP] if we defeated Tennessee Fury (we were ahead of them andwe barely lost to them). I think we have a chance of doing better than we didlast year if we get the right player to join the players we already have. Foran individual tryout, email Jeff Cavanaugh at jcav@bright.netor call me or send me a text at 419-294-3265.

Our record in 2013 was 53-5 (with 2 ties) at 10+U tournaments (including Nationals). Our overall record was 81-15 (with 3 ties) at 10+U tournaments and at 12+U tournaments and at friendlies.

We had a lot of fun this past year, and we will have a lot of fun this next year. We improved as a team and as individuals. Our purposes were to get better, have fun and win.

Some of our players are from 5 of the top 7 teams in the OFC poll this past season.
1. Lasers White (8)..............80
2. Mason Thunder ...............69
3. Ohio Storm......................64
4. Elyria Sun Dogs.................51
5. Ohio Classics....................43
6. Venom.............................35
7. Ohio Ice Red.....................34
We have players who played for Lasers White, Mason Thunder. Ohio Storm, Ohio Classics, Ohio Ice Red, and other teams. They were 9 year-olds who wanted to stay down in 10+U and play for the Lasers.

Some of our players and parents from this past year might want to share some of their positive experiences. We plan on having many more positive experiences.

This summer completed my daughter's 4th year in 10U. We started with a local tournament team and then moved each year to the next level of play. This past summer was the TOP of the game in Ohio. She played with some awsome athletes and girls and was coached by people who not only KNOW the game but had such immense PASSION for the game, it was crazy!

The practices are super efficiant yet fun for the girls. I did not hear one girl complain about practicing or that they were tired or that it was too cold, etc. Anyone who has been around 10 and 11 year old girls know that their attention span isn't the best but with the way all the practices are run their attention was ALWAYS kept!

If you want your daughter to grow athletically, learn life lessons, understand the true meaning of being on a team and expand on their skills give this organization a try.

My DD was a proud member of the 2013 Laser White team. Coach Jeff is truly one of a kind as he is able to get his players to perform amazing achievements on the softball field. Coach Jeff is the "Picasso of Practice" as it was the highlight of the week for players, parents, relatives, and spectators. He has a unique gift of sharing his softball wisdom with young individuals. My DD had one request for her 2014 team selection - for Jeff to be her Coach. Her wish was granted!!! Go Lasers!!!

Although a different team than the one looking to add that right piece. Last years '02 teams accomplishments should speak for themselves as to the type of instruction you will receive from Coach Jeff. When we were first told to pack a lunch for practice, I was skeptical. After seeing what this man taught these girls physically, and mentally I was simply amazed. To hold the attention of 9 and 10 year olds for 6-7 hours once a week is darn near impossible. Our 12 girls never had the chance to stand still, and if there was a break in practice, it was filled with Jeff holding their attention by making them think, and learn about the game. What other 10U team has 20+ signals for offence? (Parent Joke!) You can't go wrong with the Lasers. You can be the one everyone is aiming to beat, or be the one trying, and being the team to beat is a lot of fun! Especially when you are learning, and getting better at the same time. I know my DD has already said she wants to be a Laser for Life.

After my daughters 2nd year of playing travel softball we decided to join The Lasers for her 3rd. It was a change in the right direction and we never looked back! Jeff is an amazing person and coach that dedicates his life to making sure his team reaches it's full potential. Our daughter will be moving up with Lasers White and we are so excited for another year of success with Jeff as our leader. We highly recommend giving The Laser organization and Coach Jeff a try. I am confident you will not regret it!

Go Lasers!

O I have a question on posts like these, I am obviously new to this and heard about this sight over the weekend! Is this type of post normal? I am looking thru other post and I am seeing other coaches getting kudos from other coaches and other teams!

I hear that lasers is an elite org but here you have a head coach posting records, and who they pulled off of other teams (which I think at this point in time all teams do that), as well as asking parents to comment on experiences! Only three parents commented and no other coaches have said anything?? Obviously they have a proven record and are an elite team, and would love to have my daughter play for an org like this!

my question is what do other teams/coaches think of this org! Not just record but sportsmanship, attitude and development?

Maybe this is not the PC way to handle it but I figured I would ask! Not sure how open this site is to all comments?

Beating any Laser team is a goal for every team in Ohio and many teams out of Ohio. Other than a select few teams that are the best teams in their age group, there are not many teams that have a bigger target on their backs than Lasers. I think at this time of the year, it will be difficult to get coaches from opposing teams to aid in promoting teams that seem to do well every year. With that being said....

my question is what do other teams/coaches think of this org! Not just record but sportsmanship, attitude and development?

My daughters do not play for any of the Laser teams, so it would be difficult for me to speak first-hand to the development of the players The team I coached last season, played Lasers White a few times. I did not see all of their games, but I can say that I did witness Coach Cavanaugh and Coach Boggs conduct themselves with class, the players of Lasers White sitting and socializing with girls from other teams and the players being rotated during games. It would be easy for me, as a coach of an opposing team, to say nothing, but it would not be fair to the coaches and girls that obviously worked very hard this season. This Laser White team represented Ohio well at ASA/USA, raised the bar for play within Ohio and will continue to be a team that my daughter will strive to beat.

Coach Kerry - thanks for sharing your respectful and refreshing comments. The Venom 10U team was a class act which always gave the Laser White girls a challenging game. I appreciate and support your perspective on OH softball. We must constantly challenge one another to improve as this will prepare all of us to excel at national events.

Krrcoach, thanks for posting about the org! Once again I am new to this and since posting I have received a lot of private messages about the lasers by who I am assuming are coaches and parents! And your comments were refreshing to hear, compared to those!

Although I am surprised with how many private messages I have received that only you have answered the post! But I guess it is that time of year as you stated!

My daughter is entering her 3rd season at the 10U age group. She is very excited to join the lasers this season. We played against the Lasers a couple of times last year and I can say that Jeff and Bill conducted themselves with class everytime we saw them. Their team was very well coached and prepared for every game!

Well my dd is in her 5th year at 10u and the knowledge that Coach C taught her about the disney channel ....

JUST KIDDING !!!! ...... We all know ( or at least should know) The Lasers are the Creme de la Creme in Ohio fastpitch . Always well coached and never without 11-12 sluggers on the roster . If you have a top flight kid who thrives under pressure ( and yes there is pressure ) at this young age then checkem out . From knowing Jeff and many Lasers for years they are good in my book . except for bone . MD

@Fastbat04 ... I am also an opposing 10u coach and have nothing but positive things to say about the Lasers org and Coach C. He was very kind to my older daughter and we have never forgotten that! You should probably keep in mind that the type of players Coach C. wants to attract most likely care a great deal about last year's W/L record and how they placed at nationals. It would be entirely appropriate to include that!
