This was an awesome place to play softball. The stadium seat was a perfect setting. Congrats to the Doom 95, great team. Fields were groomed after every game. Facilities were incediable. Just wish I could have seen Doug and Jimmy raking fields. Some how I missed that. See you guys in Marysville.

Congrats to both Doom teams, are the Doom 95 undefeated in tourney play this year? I think they beat the 12u Stingrays at Berliner a few weeks back, sure looks like The Doom 95 team at this point of the season are a solid #1.

Why do teams, like the Stingrays, play up in 14u? Does it really make that much of a difference come Nationals? I really have no idea and aam looking for the reasons behind it. I'll assume the idea is playing up will better prepare the girls for 12u Nationals or World series. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying any team should not play up or faulting them at all for doing so. Its their choice of course. But, I seen the Stingrays at Massillon. They looked very good, even in the 14u bracket. And they are absolutely one of the top 12u teams in the area. But to me, many of the top 12u teams would give most 14u teams good games and of course beat many of them here and there. But when put up against the Slammers, and other "elite" 14u teams, the chance of giving those teams a good game and beating them decreases significantly. I know the Slammers did this last year, playing up, but that is a very special, rare, group of young ladies.

To tell you the truth, I'm suprised tournaments allow playing up in this day and age of lawsuits and such. I mean, the age brackets 10u, 12u, 14u etc, etc are setup that way for a reason.

In any case, the Stingrays are definitely at the top of my list of 12u teams I've personally seen this year.

Sorry I didnt get a chance to talk to Coach John of the `96 Doom team afterwords but if he sees this I just want to let him know that your daughter pitched a beautiful game yesterday against us. Those first 5 innings she kept us off balance and kept your team right in there. First time I had the chance to see her pitch since that evening at Champions in the `Nati. Bailey is a special talent! Tell her great job from Aubs and myself.

I can't speak for the Stingrays but I'm going to guess we are on the same page on this issue, if not they can correct me. Doom 95 will play just two 14u tournaments this year and I believe the Ray's will play four. The reason is simple we want to push the girls and one of the ways to do that is to have them play against older and stronger competition. For many reason (kids are still in school being one) it is difficult to get some teams to travel to N.E. Ohio, and other parts of the state this early in the year when they have school early Monday morning. So why not play a little 14u ball.

If you think about it this early in the year your playing against 8th graders since most of the older 14u girls are still in school ball. We played these teams last year and we will play them again next year when we move to 14u, not a huge leap unless you get matched up with some of the very talented 13u teams the state of Ohio has this year; Slammers, Laser Red, Buckeye Heat, and many more that I have not mentioned.

Our last 14u tourney will be this weekend @ HOH and I have second guessed myself many times about this one, especially after I received our pool play schedule. There is no way I would ever attempt the 14u schedule the Slammers and Silver did last year, because we are not even close to the talent that was on those two 12u teams.

Nobody enjoys winning more than me, but this will make the girls stronger. The Stingrays might not have won a tourney yet this year but I'm pretty sure four straight weeks of 14u tourneys will pay off greatly for them.

Correction the Stingrays won the 14u @ Fairborn.

The 12U Stingrays did win the USSSA World Series Blast in Fairborn a couple of weeks ago, in the 14U division.

Hey Hillbilly and Aubrey, I will definitely share this with Bailey, as she was pretty down after the game. ? The '95 girls constantly keep the pressure on by getting the bat on the ball and aggressive base running. ?My girls learn something every time we play you. ?

We are blessed to have a three girl staff, including Olivia and Sam, so they all stay fresh. ?Olivia threw a no-hitter on Saturday and pitched an awesome game in the semi-finals on Sunday. ?Sam always hits her spots and all of her pitches move. ?They all work their tails off to try to keep up with Em and Rae and we are looking forward to seeing Aubs in the circle. ?Of course I can't talk about our pitchers without mentioning our catcher Bri. ?She is the heart and soul of our team. ?Ok, I can't talk about our pitchers and catcher without mentioning the rest of our defense. Our motivational word for the year is RELENTLESS and that is how they are playing. They made many amazing plays this weekend.

Good luck in Marysville this weekend!
