This might be the most messed up pool play and bracket play schedule I have ever been a part of. There is no sense to it at all!!! I swear it was like drawing everything out of a hat and/or throwing darts at a board.
The TD seriously needs to explain how he came up with the pool play and the scheduling of bracket play.
There are 70 teams here. LOGIC says you have 16 four team pools and two three team pools. The winners play each other and the losers play each other. Makes for easy 1-4 seeding. No, not here. We have 22 three team round robin pools and one 4 team pool. HUH!!!!
I have been to a lot of tournaments watching my daughters play over the past 7 years and have never seen anything like this.
Ok, rant over.......

3 team pools in 18U as well. Get 2 pool games and double elimination bracket for 4gm guarantee.

The team of a friend of mine took 1 seed in their pool early in the day and just started their 1st bracket game at 10pm. Crazy.

Same thing we complained about last year. Higher seeded teams played late Fri night while low seed teams got to go back to hotels or home and play Saturday morning. Only tournament that I know of that it pays to sandbag in pool play, gets you better bracket game times.

It's a complete joke how this whole tournament has been set up. For it to be the State Championship and this is what you get, to me, it's a HUGE disappointment!!!

Sounds like not much has changed from when we played there in 2010 and 2011 with game times/schedule.
When we played it was a decent event and actually had a lot of college coaches there.

But in 2011 we had some uniform issues because we ordered custom Boombah pants with a thunder bolt down the leg. As we were getting ready to play or second game the TD said three of my players could not play because they had on solid black pants or I would have to put the the other players in solid black pants. The coach from the other team we were getting ready to play was standing with me as we were exchanging line ups and overheard the conversation and pointed out the umpired did not even have matching uniforms sure enough he was right. In the end everyone played but it put a bad light on otherwise was a decent event.

I don't know why people think its that bad, you still play 2 pool games weather there are 3 or 4 teams in your pool. Plus this way if you happen to lose your first pool game your not relegated to the 3 or 4 seed, you can still get #2 or possible #1 if they all go 1-1. Secondly my team LOVED playing the 10pm game under the lights and knowing they got to sleep in on Saturday. I will say playing on fields in Benton Ridge wasn't great, considering a couple of the fields had 250 foot or longer fences, back stops 30 feet deep, girls catching cleats on the 40 foot mounds with huge pegs sticking out of the ground, and oh by the way the skinny/ narrow baseball pitching rubbers sucked! As far as the brackets, Im not sure too many people could do a much better job with 70 team double elimination!

You could have thrown darts at the bracket to determine who goes were and done better a better job.

Did anyone else experience the pulling of new LXT bats before games? We saw it happen twice and then one of our players had her bat confiscated by UIC. She used it in previous two games already that day and then had it taken away in game three. We unfortunately got eliminated and parents had to drive back to other park to go pick up the bat around 10PM.

It happened to one of our players in our morning game today. Passed our other 6 games we played until this morning. Explain that one????

What was the reason given for confiscating the bat?

The hadle was rotating and it looked like the umps were twisting pretty hard on the end nob. Kind of like the mako torx rotating handle.

We played at Marathon and Findlay High School. No complaints at all. Late game was fun. Early games are part of it. Competition was solid and college coaches everywhere. Umpires looked sharp and we're by the best we have had between Dayton, Lasers, and Sheer Madness. Kudos to TD. Keep doing what you do, there will always be haters.

I have a feeling you will see a lot of this. They all do it by the way it is designed. Now if it rotates as easily as a Mako Torq, that's one thing, but they all twist if forced to.

Was at Nationals 2 years ago and LS was a sponsor (w/ a table) at the registration site. All teams had to have the full roster and girls had to bring their bats for balancing and weight testing. Lot's of "failed" bats but it was very convenient that you could just stop on over and buy yourself a new LS.

Problem is - I saw two bats fail the same test and the plastic had just been taken off about 10 minutes before. Quite an interesting conversation when the player's parents returned to the table demanding their money back.

We had a LXT pulled Friday for the slight turning. Put it back out next game and passed rest of weekend. We enjoyed the weekend at both Benton Ridge and Marathon. I had no problems with 3 team brackets or late games in regards to TD. The issue is 70 teams and 3 days to do it. With those parameters don't think anyone could do better. But 15 hour days at field are a bit much. Probably the only solution is to start Thursday.

Our team got a #1 seed. First bracket game was 10pm (started about 10:30). Won that one then had to play second bracket game at 9:40am while the #2 seed in our pool played at 8pm Friday and 1pm on Sat. Overall though we had a lot of fun and saw some great teams.

Totally agree Brian. All fields were really nice and was the best umpiring that I've seen all year. Congratulations, Heat 00 made a pretty good run on Sunday.
