MVX scores

MVX 2-JABC Blitz 0
MVX 1-Impact Green 6
MVX 4-Buckeye Heat McGhee 1
MVX 2-Hawks Pifer 1
MVX 10-Rebels 3
MVX 10-Lasers Silver 4
MVX 0-Classics Black 1
MVX 5-Ice Black 2
MVX 0-Sapphires 4

MVX earns a bid to ASA/USA with a 4th place finish. No we have not retooled. We had 1 awful game at Dayton and 4 close losses at Shreve. Our pitchers are Chelsea Miller(Franklin) and Jamie Ertel(McAuley). The player we picked up is a position player. We are just playing better!

Phone was dying and couldn't post updates. After 35+ hours of softball over the last 4 days I couldn't take it anymore and left before the "what if" game started. Sapphires playing their 12th! game of the weekend

CONGRATS to DOOM 95 on your STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

I think I have this right - including pool play:
Doom 7 -1
Ohio Sapphires 10 -2

The only losses for both teams were to each other and Sapphires looked a little gased in their 6th game today.

Both great teams and congrats to both organizations.

Nice job Doom. Didn't the Froment girl play for the Ohio Waves last year? I thought we played against her at Lasers last year on Rich Rosinki's team.

Brett, yes Emily Froment did play with my old Ohio Wave team for past three years and you couldn't ask for a harder working player or a more supportive family. They were a big part of what made the our summers enjoyable.

I should also mention that KP (Kaitlind Phillips) who played for us for four years is also on this years Doom team and I heard that she had a great day today.

Big time Congrats to Doug and his team as they accomplished one of their main goals this season. State Champs has a very nice ring to it (there is only one of team who can claim that title each year). They will represent Ohio well at nationals.

Congrats to the Doom, a very deserving champion! Super team!! Hope you all made it back to SE Ohio safely, it was a rough ride home to NE Ohio.

Very proud of the effort and drive from the Sapphires over the weekend, always impressed with the girls desire to win, play through injuries, stick around on Sundays, and an even stronger desire to have fun together.

Sapphires: 2nd place finish, 10-2 on weekend. Only losses were to the champs, The Doom, and we got'em once also. Wins over all berth winners here this weekend ...... Well done Sapphires!

Congrats to all the berth winners:

* Doom
* Sapphires
* Miami Valley Express
* Classics Black

Having played each of them this weekend, we were very impressed with them all!!

Got an old shoe sitting bedside, just waiting for that rooster ... Good night!!

GREAT JOB

Got to play 2 of the 4 teams here this weekend Sapphires 4-2 loss solid team with great fans and coaches. Classics 2-0 loss very classy bunch. Games could have been even closer but made a few errors.
Really impressed with Doom's bats boy can they hit the ball. Oh did I mention they can hit the ball.
MV Express very nice team with some great coaches.

Tournament ran very well nice job with handling the rain.
Only negative was taunting in one of our games by the coaches wife. Then after we lost in ITB She was dancing around singing and mocking. Not a lot of class.

GO SAPPHIRES!!! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Thanks Scott, we accomplished the primary goal this weekend, but fell a little short of the secondary goal .... no shame in that though considering the competition.

Warren, yeah, I am pretty sure the Doom can hit ... especially when they have missed their scheduled departure time for the drive home, and are angry and focused. Exhibit A would be the "if" game last night. We couldn't catch a cold in that game, so it was even harder to catch the rockets they were hitting from tha start of that game, after we split a couple of 2-1 games earlier. BTW, they can also pitch, and field, a little, also, as they ended the game with a diving catch by the CF, up 13-1. They are a fine team in all facets, that is quite battle tested given their amped up schedule. Nothing but good things to say about them, including some excellent coaches, who are pretty good guys as well, and their players play hard, and with class win or lose. Again, a tip o' the hat to the Doom.

Regarding the MVX "retooling" ... I think I am the one who used that term last week on the board (meant complimentary btw), after talking with an old friend and parent ..... The spirit of the comment was that the MVX had refocused and was going to make some noise going forward, as you have ... nice team! A few of our kids are angry with your CF and SS ... (in a good way, lol).

No shame in that at all. I've been following you guys through the posts here for the past 3-4 weeks and see all the noise that the girls are making while facing the best that Ohio has to offer. :D I couldn't be happier seeing the progress that your team has made while keeping their commitment to each other as teammates through it all.

Really just a model of growth and consistency, and I know firsthand that you guys are alot of fun to watch and be around.

When you get a chance, send me your schedule and I'll try my best to get out and catch some games if scheduling and proximity allows. I'd like to bring the almost-13 along for some schooling as well. Oddly enough, she likes to watch games. ;)

Thanks, Rich for the shoutout to KP (*Katelind Phillips). You and Erin are a big part of the reason she plays the way she plays!! What he didn't mention is that she has played infield all of her softball life (3 yrs at 2nd and last season at 3rd for Ohio Wave, ss and 3b in high school ball, despite being a lefty!!) and this summer is learning to play center field. She did have a great day and weekend!!
Thanks, also, Pickledad for the mention "as they ended the game with a diving catch by the CF, up 13-1". One of the college coaches that liked her play earlier in the weekend actually mentioned to Doug that she was wondering why she let a couple of balls drop that the coach felt if she had dove or slid she could have caught. Doug informed the coach that she is a converted infielder that is just learning to play her position. So, I was completely proud of the fact that she had a couple of diving catches on Sunday, including the one that ended the "if" game! She is working to improve her play as an outfielder and it was great to see her efforts rewarded. Her MVP selection by the tournament directors was an honor given that she felt there were many others on her team who were just as deserving, if not more...anyone that knows her would not be surprised that she felt that way. Ultimately, we are happy to have our berth under our belts and proud to say that we are Ohio ASA 16U State Champs!!!! We are glad to be Doomers and looking forward to the future!!!
