From what I hear, New Bremen did every thing that they could do to keep the score down. One thing was to intentionally bunt back to the pitcher with the bases loaded.
If I were the New Bremen AD I would ask for my entry fee back. Honestly folks, some parents have been pushing the New Bremen administration for years to take the program to the next level by doing things like attending showcase tournaments. And when they finally do, they get paired up with a struggling program. The team and parents drove 2 hours with the excitement of playing a Columbus school and this is what they got. Parents that I spoke with told me that the outfielders watched the ball roll past them and when they finally retrieved it they would run the ball to the pitcher's circle and hand it to the pitcher. They compared it to sub-6th grade level ball. Why would you take this team to this event knowing that you will be over matched and embarrassed. Why would you invite such a team. This year New Bremen is a .500 team DIV team and beat them 37-0. What a disappointment. This debacle probably damaged the New Bremen program more than the other team's program.
