FASTPITCH IN CENTRAL PARK:
TRIPLE CROWN NEW YORK CITY

Central Park was the location and the New York City skyline was the backdrop for six competitive fastpitch teams playing in the 2008 Triple Crown New York City tournament during the week of July 11 ? 18, 2008. When the last out was recorded each day, players, coaches, and fans were off to see the sights of New York City.

2008 Triple Crown New York City participants experienced the MLB All-Star Fan Fest, caught a ride on a Double Decker tour bus to learn about New York?s history and architecture, and set sail on a sunset harbor cruise that showcased the city?s skyline including landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Players, coaches, and families also visited Times Square and Broadway, seeing shows such as Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy and Phantom of the Opera. Unstructured time provided some of the most memorable moments ? strolling through Times Square, sampling a wide variety of foods, and snapping pictures with friends in front of New York City landmarks.

The 2009 Triple Crown New York City event will be July 12 ? 17, 2009. Age divisions will include 14U, 16U, and 18U. Teams will be guaranteed four games.

In addition to the events that occurred in 2008, participants will have opportunities to attend a New York Mets or Yankees game, visit the Natural History Museum, and give back to the Manhattan community by conducting a softball clinic for children involved in the Harlem RBI summer youth program.
