I guess they didn't need any speed.....DD was told she had the fastest times on Mon. try outs. Probably won't lose any sleep!

Tryouts were a joke. What they did in 5 hours I could of done in 1 1/2 hours. Its not how good you are but which coach knows who, this is a fact because I heard many of them talking. There are a few that deserve being there though and I still wish them all goodluck.

I know of one player who deserved to be there and is not. Why do players tryout for positions they do not play in with their school during the season? Nice job coaches, way to pick them! Do you think they were picked for ability or because they are the coache's favorites?

I thought every girl at the fostoria tryouts looked good. How do you choose between 10-15 girls for a position when they all look good? I was however disappointed at some of the parents' behavior. Yelling at the coaches and complaining into their cell phones loudly about what a joke the tryout was. Yes, it did run a little slow but my DD said that the infield coaches were very nice and gave every girl the same opportunity. Some people just took it a little too seriously. It's not the end of the world if your DD didn't make it.
Have to mention, I see the Sandusky pitcher made the team. We faced her a couple times during the HS season and she is very deserving.

Remember that the coaches are not paid monetarily, so sometimes they take some of their own players. It happens! They put in the time. They were overwhelmed by the shear number of girls just trying out. They didn't have the manpower or equipment to evaluate the girls. Were the best girls selected at each position? Maybe, maybe not! Complain to the NWO district coaching rep. to get more coaches involved in the process. My guess is that the coaches don't care enough when it is not their own team. So these coaches who are willing to put the time will stay. They are doing the best they can possibly do. Does it meet with everyone's approval? Obviously not!

I also see some "good ole boys" that stick together to make sure they have their player(s) on the list. A good rule would be "No more than 1 player from a team" I see one team with a .500 record with two players from that school. LOL

Participated in the process last year. Had 1 tryout that was rain shortened. All the girls didn't even get seen and the coaches got together and picked a team. Just happened to be all girls from their areas. The process was supposed to be "blind" where participants were told not to wear school colors or names but each girl was asked where she went to school and then directed where to go based on that. Real fair. I know a lot of good players that didn't bother to go this year.

The Northeast had 3 nights that girls could try out. They could come to just one or all three, it was up to them. We went to the tryout on the last night and saw some good softball players. Not sure how many or what kind of talent showed up the first 2 nights, but it couldn't have been an easy decision for the coaches in the amount of time they had to evaluate each girl. Kudos to the coaches for taking their time to do tryouts and coach the tournament! This will be dd's third and final year playing for the NE Team. She has had a lot of fun meeting and getting to know girls from other schools, and she is still friends with many of them after playing together on this team. There are always a lot of very good softball players who do not try out for one reason or another, and some very good ones that didn't make the team. For us, it has been a great experience.... 2 extra days of playing softball while making new friendships and having fun. There's always politics involved with High School softball, including the selection of the All Ohio Teams. We may not personally like the outcome, but we have to take it for what it is worth and move on.

Interesting, my dd made the team, first time we met the coaches. Still can't remember their names.

My DD made the team, the coach's of the team were from two teams we have never played. I know that dd made the team on merit, NOT by coach's favorite. Her HS coach wasn't even at try-outs. Sure there is also DD's looked over that are good player's but it is really hard to pick from just one try-out. My DD made the team as a freshman, then DIDN'T get picked last year and then made it this year. The girls on the team are ALL deserving. Just as the ones not picked could have been also. It is just the way it is. But to say the one's on the team were picked d/t something other than merit, is very disrepectful to the girls who made the team!!

I thought underclass meant Freshman and Sophomore. Why are a majority of the players that were picked Juniors and Seniors? They should rename the tournament if it's not truly for the underclassmen.

I am mistified by all of the complaining and out right ignorance in some of the postings on this thread. First of all,there are no seniors on any of the rosters,ZERO,NONE!Secondly,they keep score in these games and the coaches are playing to win,therefore they are going to choose players they know will get it done in game situations,not because they hit off of a machine real well. Lastly it is classless getting on here and ragging on coaches that are doing this on their own time,no compensation or recognition for their time. If your dd didn't make the team its usually the person in the mirror thats at fault. Get used to it people,"LIFE IS NOT FAIR"!

Congrats to all of the girls that are on the teams.
I will say that communicating the try-out info has much to be improved. I believe that it is dependent on HS coaches tell their players about it. No where was it posted in any paper that I know of.
