My DD plays for Fairport and we have never played Windham, Mathews, or Bristol. We are just hoping for a good game. Our coach tried to get harder games for us but the weather kept thwarting him until we had to play league games to get them in.

Mathews beats arch rival Bristol in a 13 inning barn burner 1 to 0. Eggens outduels Slusher and Mathews out hits Bristol 9 to 5. Both teams had chances to score thru out with Mathews stringing 3 consecutive singles together in the top of the 13th to push the go ahead run across. Bristol had the tying and winning runs on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the bottom of the 13th but Eggens got a popup and a K to end it. Great game by both teams, with both teams making big play after big play thru out. Eggens finished with 28 K's.

Cuyahoga Heights had another battle with Nikki Doyle and Aurora. Heights gave up a run in the first on a leadoff walk and a pair of singles. Heights answered back with a leadoff walk, sac bunt, and then a double. It stayed 1-1 till the 9th when Heights jumped on a pitch and put it over the fence. Final 2-1 in 9. Chopka struck out 10 and Doyle had 15 k's in the loss. These two teams have combined to play 21 innings in 2 games with a total of 4 runs scored. Glad to see that Heights is winning the tough games.
It looks like Height's bats are starting to come alive as the Coach tweaks the batting order and the right batter is coming up in the right situation.

We are doing our best to get ready. I am not sure what we can do besides practice. Our girls have come a long way since the beginning of the season. Our games for last night and today were cancelled and our coach tried to find another team to play today but nobody was available. So, we will practice and do our best.

Unfortunately, Fairport lost to Windham 8-4. We had 6-7 errors that really hurt us. It was a great game and I am very proud of our girls for playing hard and trying their best. I think 2 of their runs were earned and the rest were on errors. Fairport also tried to come back in the 4th or 5th inning and got the score to 4-5 with some nice hits and a 2 run home run. We left the bases loaded and could not score again. Both pitchers did well and worked hard. It was the end of the road for us this year but there is always next year. Now let's get to travel ball. DD is itching to get back with her team for the summer.

So how is district play going ? Down south 4th ranked leesburg Fairfield fell to Waterford , pretty large upset . Notre dame faces 21-3 reedsville eastern in one district final , paint valley with a pretty decent freshman pitcher faces Waterford in the other district final .
Didnt I see where Bristol beat Mathews in district play ? Another other ranked teams fall in district play ?

Cuyahoga Heights keeps rolling. Won a great battle against Windham 7-2. Only mustarded 4 hits against one of the best pitchers in the state in Britney Knight., but they came at the right time. On to the regional finals.
Nice article on heights on Cleveland.com.

funny that our district has not been really strong 3 out of the 4 years of my dd's hs tenure but this year the district is now much much stronger than the past 3 years. All of a sudden the district is pitching rich . There is a surprise newcomer that i see coming out of the east in our district and is gonna surprise the big dog . You heard it hear first . :) lol md

Great game by Heights today to move on to States. Merideth was perfect except for the first batter of the game who reached base on a little numbber that if left alone would have rolled foul. That girl was later called out after leaving the base early on a fly ball hit to right. Merideth faced the minimum 21 batters. Great job by her.
Heights executed a squeeze to perfection in the third to give them the lead for good.
This team is playing very well right now and the coaching staff is playing less conservative which is a winning combination for Heights.

Go Skins
