I've been told even though 6th grade is considered middle school in the state, they are not allowed to play middle school ball. Is this true in the state of Ohio?

I'm pretty sure 7th and 8th is considered middle school, 6th is still elementary.

Hey, my brother lives in Blacklick!! :)

I had 6th graders on my middle school team, We were not OHSAA sactioned, we were just a club team, allowed to use our School name. In our school district Middle School is 6,7,8 grade.

Our school district considers 6th as middle school, and the reason I say that is that we have her middle school orientation coming up in a few weeks. So does OHSAA have a rule stating 6th graders can't play?

If the team is an OHSAA sanctioned team, only 7th and 8th graders are allowed to participate. If it is a club team, 6th grade eligibility is up to the club.

Yep, Club you can pretty much have a team that is relative to whatever your league states. OHSAA rules are 7th and 8th grade only.

We are from Olmsted Falls and it is all 8th graders unless a seventh grader can pitch or catch in the Southwestern Conference.

It is true that in Ohio, 6th graders cannot play middle school ball. This is a rule of the governing body: Ohio High School Athletic Association. At my daughter's school, 6th graders could be a team manager, which meant they could work out and practice with the team, but during games they kept score or served as bat girls.

True, if school sponsord ball.....

If it club ball... I would have to say you could use fifth graders if you want or fourth graders... as "CLUB" ball has absolutely NOTHING to do with OHSAA or it's regulations... as it has nothing to do with the school accept in name
